Interest in a review database?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, something yesterday gave me the idea to create a shisha review website. So last night, I compiled around 30 reviews to start off. All of these reviews are from previous review threads where I have either taken them word for word, or changed the context to fit a standard review format:Smell:Cut:Smoke Density:Flavor:Rating:Reviewed By:It is pretty time consuming, but it could be very rewarding. Is there a interest for this? Should I keep going? I am putting my horrible skills in Dreamweaver at work to get the first 30 reviews up online.

goood stuf, how are you creating the site? is it all in HTML (i assume not as you say database.) It could prove useful. you should add reviews for different things too, e.g. hookah's and hookah bars.

what!! you can't do it in HTML!!! u want to get it in php and mysql! that way you can have alsort of fancy sorting stuff. or even better, ASP.net. lok for a tutorial, that looks p*ss easy to learn!
PHP and MySQL is easy though. using a proper database language would make it a lot better because it would mean people could easily add to the reviews and sort the reviews to their own preferences.

So he's volunteering his time and effort to do something free to benefit all of us, and yet people still jump all over him for not doing it in the codes they'd want it done in.
You know the saying.. if want something done right, ........

Oh, I don't particularly care how it's done if I'm not the one doing it. I had thought about something similar a while back but I can't get off my lazy butt to actually put antthing together.

Sorry for the double post, but I just remembered this - there is a database-driven site for pipe tobacco reviews that could be used as a model or at least for ideas:tobaccoreviews.com

Um.  Pimpy.  there are ALOT of reviews out there from non manufacturers.  In fact, what would one review from a person matter when you have like 10 other perspectives?  It's a great idea, catalyst, you should really do that.  It gets time consuming going from like 8 page thread to some other thread to some other thread...

Review:Tangiers TobaccoIts awesome...tastes like gold. 11/10We would have to have some means of restricting who got in with reviews to protect ourselves from unscrupulous people like Tangiers. Maybe we could have like a second layer of membership...like for reviews and such...by invitation only.
