liquidglass
Your CH instant lites are the BEST! That's not the news though lol. I just ran out of CH naturals (my brand new favorite, even getting rid of my exoticas soon in trades) Well I didn't want to order online just for coals so I traveled up to my favorite middle eastern supply shop and lo and behold what do I see but CH COALS! Not only that they were lower than what you can get them for online. Which is no surprise, this guy sells 250 of Starbuzz for $18 even now. So picked up 3 of the boxes he had (only 48 piece) got them home and was a little discouraged to see they were instant lights. (just not my normal go-to coal). But I decided what the hell lets light them up and see what happens. (*note* the coals were HALF the price of what is charged online!) lucky me I am now a firm believer, that CH instant light coals are the BEST instant light on the market today. I lit them up inside, just to see how they would do rather than go all the way outside. I put them in my coal carrier, lit the ends and watched the show. The initial smell reminded me of other instant lights and I was hoping it would dissipate soon. I let them sit for a minute, came back and the smell was GONE!!! They looked and behaved just like natural coals after that minute of instant light smoke and light show. I threw them ontop of a phunnel of tangier orange soda and there is NO aftertaste. The only reason I know they're instant lights is because they light up so much faster and have a smell for a minute (literally). I don't know how you did it, but I believe I am going to keep these in my back up stash from now on. Simply amazing John. Thank you from the hookah community for an instant light that works like it's supposed to. A++ in my book.
Tyler
Totally agree, I only use CH QL and I order them by the case.
mitchard
While I dont use CH QLs too often these days, they are the only QL coal I will use. By far the best on the market.
Chreees
I don't like them, but then again, I don't like any quicklight coal... They all give me headaches, and I can't stand the smell.
Tyler
The new CH QL don't have a smell (to me) but maybe I'm just used to it by now? Lol
Click
Hmm. I guess I have not tried to newest ones? I didn't know they were reworked since I last bought them about a year ago. They aren't absolutely terrible, but the non-QLs stay together way longer IMO. They are nice to have in those situations where you don't have electricity to power the little stove. If the smell is gone as you guys say then that is a big plus for the CH QLs as the best QL on the market. That smell they put off made my kitchen smell like gunpowder, so I'm happy to hear it isn't as bad anymore.
agunn1231
just started buying CH QL's not too long ago, they are amazing. there is almost no noticable smell, it's awesome.
Chreees
Sounds like they're good now then... smell was my biggest gripe. Maybe the new ones won't give me headaches either...
tranoid no ki
I bought a box of CH QLs to use at the hotel I stayed at in CA, when I brought them out, it took 3 lighters, countless matches, and 45 min to get CH QLs lit. They are great, when I drop them on my little hotplate to heat them, fully lit in under 2 min, no smell, etc. so I guess they are QL in that respect. But when I personally think of QL, I think of the speed and ease of say, 3K. That's just my opinion. Would I buy them again? Not really, I don't mind waiting for my cocos, as I am as I post this, but when I buy a QL, I buy them for the convenience of having them at say, the park, or the beach, or anywhere else I can't readily get to a burner, and not killing off a lighter and a half trying to get them heated, and I don't have a blowtorch readily available, so thats not an option. SweetNut
I carry a couple tea lights when I want to smoke without my coil burner... light em and hold the coal over it until it starts up....then blow out the tealight... works for me
Chaz1337
I would rather NOT smoke than use CH instant lights. I would rather smoke using Kingsford Matchlight coals before I would use a CH QL again. No offense to liquidglass and all the fans but everything you said has been the exact opposite from my experience with CH QLs. Maybe it was just a bad batch but regardless I wont be ordering them again. /rant

I still don't think they last as long as the regular CH cocos, but that may be paranoia.
Hookah_510
CH OL's = best quick light hookah coal hands down. BUT it is the one with the worst odors of all. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. It stinks up my entire home and takes 10min with the windows opened to get rid of the odors. Each time I would light them up they were like mini meteors entering the atmosphere bringing with it fumes that would both ghost the flavor of the bowl and make the room smell fowl for a while. These little guys even popped off of my coil burner a couple of times!

Here's what I did with no problems, but then again could have been the environment affecting the behavior of the coals. Just two on the coil burner and let them sit, then use. Smell is slightly worse than the naturals but only until they heat up. And They ash a little thicker than the naturals. But that's about the only thing I saw "wrong". Sorry to hear about your bad experience, maybe grab a box of instants for the next time u might need some.
SoWz
Definitely the best QL's hands down. If I'm not using naturals I use the CH QL's ... perfect.
r1v3th3ad
agreed, my friends and I tried them and they were an excellent choice...I'm more of a nats guy too, thats why I just ordered a case of the CH Nat coals
dizzbizz
I actually found some Instant CH coals too at a local shop. No really impressed. For a quicklight coal, they're the best I've tried. However I was expecting a more Nat type coal. I mean even AF say their's is easy light and it still take 8 minutes to light(I assumed this was the case for CH) but these are definitely INSTANT lights; I threw them on the coil burner, went inside and got a glass of water, came out and they're lit! Haha. They ash WAY too much though. Unfortunately I bought 3 boxes expecting greatness, so I have to go through these before I switch back to AF Coconut coals. They're decent as a coal, because they burn hot and last around 30 minutes each, the ash is just a game changer for me.

rj_skillz
meh!..not a fan of CH QL's but then again, I'm not a fan of any QL's. I rather get Mera coals at my local grocery store - 100 coals for £5 which is about $7 (half of what the CH QL's go for)
HsK BATES
Ran out of coals and went to a local AZ smoke shop, lo and behold there they are CH insta lights!
