ive used both the nats and QLs. they are pretty good. i got the "second run" of the instants... the ones that took FOREVER to light with any kind of standard flame. blowtorch or coil burner were the only things i could get them to light with. they had some of the strangest ashing ive ever seen. its like getting a rock and packing snow around it. when it was time to ash, it stuck to the coal(snow sticking to rock) and fell off in solid clumps(snow cut away from rock). i dont know wheather i like it or not. yea. its probably the "cleanest" coal ive ever used.... but that ash density make it hard to get ash off sometimes. i really would like to see how the new run of the instants are. i may buy a box and review because they are extremely handy for on the go smoking. beats all other QLs in terms of lack of extra taste and longevity.

the nats are excellent. no problems with them other than they dont last as long as coconaras.

just smoked my first sessions with the new ch insta lights i picked up. By the time i put the coals on the burner and turned it to high it took 3 minutes till they started sparking up and then were instantly fully cooked. However the ashing on them sucked and was a dark grey and black ash. while on the bowl, the coals looked like lava rocks, and with the blackish ash it made them hard to see weather they were even fully lit or not. Definatly probably not going to pick up another box of these. id say they were worth the bargain price i got them at but they were hard to maintain a clean and good session

pretty much the same things I got from using those QL's hence why I don't think too much of them.

I found the Mera QL's better but all in all..QL's suck! :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced the horrid smell... even on the naturals stink when they're lighting. My girlfriend can hardly handle the odor.

For QL's they're great. Comparing the naturals to CCN's, though... I'll pay a little more to avoid the noxious fumes throughout my apartment.

buy canarys...be happy.

i've never tried the new runs of CH coals, but the old ones had the same ashing problems glider mentioned. you basically had to "throw" them against the tray to get it to ash decently. that being said, they are the only QL coconuts on the market and that's an achievement. as for the smell, maybe i'm weird but, it never bothered me. i did light them outdoors though. i thought they smelled like fireworks, which i don't mind at all.
