New Coconut Coals - Crown Eco-Bricos

Recommended Posts

I was at the local tobacco store yesterday looking to buy coals.  They had CCNs for $13 something which is fine, because aside from GCs I think CCNs are the best coals.  But, I found a box of coconut coals I had never seen before.  They are called Crown Eco-Brico.  It says first quality on the box (whatever the hell that means) and I must say they are pretty damn close to CCNs.  They come 96 pieces to a box opposed to CCNs 108 pieces.  I bought the eco-bricos (EBs?)  for $7.99 and I couldn't be happier.  They stay together while lighting on the wallgreens $10 stove.  They lasted nearly as long as CCNs, although I think they may be a little smaller.  The ash was minimal and very fine.  Six coals left the ash of maybe a couple teaspoons.

If you see these and want a cheaper alternative, do not hesitate to buy.  They are worth every penny.

They're made by Santino, silly.... j/k. :P

Good find. I actually have these at my shop as well! A local Middle Eastern grcoery store that sells hookah stuff. But I didn't buy any, as I figured they were crap. Guess I should've tried 'em out...

I really was wondering if Santino had his hand in these, but figured that was too far fetched.

Could somebody check the bottom of a CCN box to see who it is made by.  I know they are from Indonesia along with what seems like every other coconut coal, but I was wondering if the company in Indonesia simple goes by Coconara.  The Crown Eco-Bricos say from Indonesia made by J.N.E.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these coconut coals were made in the same factory just packaged differently.

I've never seen these before, but am definitely interested in giving them a shot. Someone pick up a box for me :D

Oh, and it just says Indonesia and Coconara on the bottom of the box. These look like the old CCN shape a bit, but not as uniform.

a lot of them do that BUT CCN's owns more than 50% of the plant/facility that they're manufactured in and they don't do any private labeling. CCN's are their own coal. that being said, coconut coals can't be THAT different, imo.
