Ice Hookah

hey guys i have been lurking around on the forums for a while. I have a inhale hookah that smokes okay and I am gonna upgrade to KM. I am looking at this KM as i really like its looks. I have heard that it cools the smoke and i have also heard that it doesn't do anything. Also is there any difference between putting ice in the chamber and putting ice in the vase?

 If it does anything it will cool the smoke, but the effect will be minimal.  Most people would say it is just for looks and not function.  I personally think it looks bitchin' and would buy one not to put ice in it, but to look at it.

some worthy alternatives, although if you are dead set on the black pear chiller combo, go for it as they are not that common.

thanks for the links joytron i like that first hookah. I have also liked the looks of the KM Exotica and i saw in the reviews section on this forum that it is 40" tall but on hookah john he sells a 32" version. [url="http://www.hookahjohn.com/Khalil-Maamoon-Exotica-Blue-2073.htm"]Blue Exotica[/url] What is the difference between the two? because i might go with this exotica since it is 50 bucks cheaper.

I have never smoked out of a chiller but they look nice... on a review i was looking at on h-s of a chiller one person said there ice chamber rusted after first use... dunno how but thats not good i would just make sure to empty it after every session. But once u decide we gotta have pics

Really just 8 inches of metal. The length wont make a difference and personally I would prefer something in the mid thirties range since it will be easier to clean. Since all KMs will smoke well, as well as many other brands, looks should be of major importance since this is not just a pipe but a piece of art and a center in any room. Just set a price range, go to several sites, and pick something that suits you well.

in fact if you really like the ice here is a nicer version at a really reasonable price. The heart is also brass which gives it a little more weight and certainly has a nice look.

I like the look of the masha'al. What is the best metal for not rusting? I have heard brass is good but im not sure.

The metal they use in KMs is cheaper galvanized steel and not stainless steel.  At least that is what I have read.  I have a two steel hookahs and one brass and I have not had a rusting problem on any of them.  Many people here would say that brass is better, but I just get annoyed with patina/oxidation on the brass hookah.  Even if I clean the stem after using it I still have to clean it before each use because as it dries it develops a film of green patina that has to be scrubbed off.  It really isn't that big of deal, but something worth noting.  The brass definitely looks better IMO, is heavier, and should last longer with proper care.


I forget if the Mash'al has a brass core or if it just has a brass heart.  I'll let somebody else come in here and clear that up.

I have a H-S 3 hose Syrian Chiller. There is definitely a difference when using the ice chamber. The smoke is noticeably cold, and more dense. Is it a huge difference, set to bring about the revolution of hookah smoking? No. But, I do feel it does add something to the experience, especially if outside, and its on the warmer side. Plus, I like the look of it, since it gives more room on the hookah for the design work in teh metal.

I typically fill mine up, as I like the cold smoke. I do find this is much better than putting ice in the water, as it doesn't seem to dilute the flavor at all.
