Josh The Poet
I have tried it both ways, the cold water gives a much cleaner texture, but the warm water intensifies the flavor.. I can't really decide. Opinions?
Josh Hamilton
Im lazy sometimes so I dont put ice...being a dude and all...pfff If I were a girl Id probably be in the bathroom combing my hair for 2 hours trying to decide
Yasseah
Cool water ftw. Ice in the water is overkill imo, but chilled water from the fridge is perfect.

Arcane
doesn't really make a difference... it's been said that warm water provides for a less harsh smoke....but, i can barely recognize a significant difference. the biggest change i can perceive is the temperature of the vapor itself... Click
I don't really think about it. Just turn to facet on and that's it. It probably balances to room temperature midway through the session anyways.
Hassouni
I think ice water works really well with AF for just stupidly thick clouds....everything else, room temp.
mushrat
tap water. warm water may give a bigger buzz by opening your broncial tubes to absorb more smoke, but that's just an educated guess.
Epoch
Depends what flavor you have.
EvansLight
Cold water will just ever so slightly cool the smoke down, hardly noticeable. But it will help to make large puffy clouds, as it condenses more of the vapor. Warm tends to intensify the flavor a bit and can help to get you a bigger buzz faster. To be honest, straight room temp water is just fine. I tend to damn near freeze the base when i smoke, but thats me. In all fairness, this is just a personal preference choice. The effects of either cold, warm, or room temp are honestly negligible, so just go with whatever works best for you
thatonethere
It's funny you should bring this thread up. I was finally able to smoke last weekend so I loaded my KM base with ice water, a small tang phunnel full of Nak mizo peach, and a diffuser so I could keep the coals from rumbling too much, and the smoke was incredibly smooth. It was definitely a lot smoother with the ice water than with the reg tap water for me. I'm going to continue to use ice water for smoking. I've smoked with the phunnel and no diffuser, and vice versa with ice, and without, so I don't think the bowl or diffuser was a factor in creating extremely full, smooth smoke. lovegroove
I've always used ice water, or just cold water from the fridge in hookahs with a base too small for ice cubes. Gives really thick clouds with everything from Al Waha to Starbuzz. Though with just cold water, the base warms to room temperature about an hour through my smoking sessions. Probably doesn't make much difference either way.

ih303
I definitely notice a difference with ice in my base. Although it's mostly in the temperature of the smoke not the density.

DaProfessor
I use straight tap water. Your taste buds are more sensitive to flavors when they are warm. That's why warm soda is apparently sweeter than an ice cold drink. Cool vapor is nice, but it will usually less tasty and cool air drys the throat quicker.
fun fact, that is why coors light has the cold activation mountains on the can. when the beer is cold enough to turn the mountains blue, that means it is at a temperature where you can't taste the flavor as much as you could if it was warmer. benjavitamin
Ice cold water with lots of ice. I get thicker clouds and its smoother. When I smoke on my friend's who uses warm water only, I can tell a night and day difference. (this could be related to our differences in heat management and the fact that we use different setups lol but still.)
