Stuie
So after a lot of research and looking for what I wanted in a eReader and my wife also we both decided to get Kindles. Just ordered them and they will be here Saturday... SO FREAKING STOKED! Before all you Mac fan boys jump on me... I did consider an iPad even borrowed one from a bud of mine for a couple of days. Sorry if I want to read books I don't want a computer screen my eyes are strained enough. Almost got the nook, but after i borrowed one of these, I liked it, had some quirks I didn't like but with B&N up in the air trying to sell the company, just didn't want to go with it. If I had a B&N locally I might have got it. They have perks if you use in the store. So I grabbed the Kindle. Text can go large print which is awesome for my wife (with her visual imparement) and I love the size. Just had everything I wanted. Plus Free 3G so i can download books where ever. LIQUIDGSR
Nice. I bought the Nook, but didn't like it. Specially since I do reading before I go to bed and at night and it didn't have a back light. Also didn't show PDFs very well and I do a lot PDF reading. I ended up getting the 64gb IPAD and am just waiting to jailbreak it and load PDFs and go nuts with apps. Reading is amazing on it.
ryno
I'd love to be able to use something like that for school textbooks and be able to download them and not spend 100s of dollars on them.
Click
I got the new Kindle two weeks ago. Most of my reading for school are pdf articles and friends in my classes would end up printing the articles which defeats the purpose of saving trees and the reading online. I read all the articles on the computer screen while my eyes bled, lol. So, I'm super happy to start using the Kindle when school starts next week. It's a great device. It does so many more things than I thought it did. Dictionary lookup, highlights, notes in margins, word search, etc. Amazing.
Stuie
Oh no... just downloaded Mindsweeper for my Kindle that Everyword... way too much time playing not reading as much. Just finished Reading "The Prince" by Machiavelli ... Interesting and enlightening not to mention super depressing when looking at the depravity of man. Allstar
I bought my mom the Kindle for her birthday last year and she loved it. I went with the Sony touch and it was awesome for my deployment to Africa. Though I don't know what I did with it, so it looks like I will give the nook a try when I get back. I am a huge mac support but the iPad is not an e reader and really it is just a big ipod touch. Good choice on the kindle enjoy.
noodle
The concept of e-ink and e-paper is very nice. I like the way it's easy on the eyes and is readable in sunlight. What I don't like is the fact that every one of them I've examined has some fatal flaw about them and that all of them are too expensive.

Definitely worth it since most of my reading for school are pdf articles.
noodle
$140 might be the magic number for me. Good handling of PDFs is a must. Also, I want EPUB. Last time I checked, the no Kindles handled that. Lack of removable storage media is a big negative against it. Another thing that bugs me is that with the Kindle, Amazon has already shown that they can remotely delete stuff from it. Fortunately, it seems that jailbreaking and installation of custom operating systems is easy.
