okie guys, i bought a brand new egyptian mid sized hookah with a mod bowl.
i've always smoked in australia where the humidity is low. now i'm smoking in singapore where the humidity is extremely high.
i cannot for the life of me get a gd smoke frm this new hookah. i've just abt tried bloody everything and its driving me crazy!
i've aired out the tobacco and stirred it and wat nots. i get flavour but no smoke. more coals too harsh which gives me a headache. i taped out my valve and it appears to have abit more smoke. i dunno wats wrong?!! i poke abot 30 medium sized holes in the fowl and pack the tobacco loose and full but not touching the foil. i've followed all the rules and i'm at my wits end here.
flavour yes, smoke very little. more coals abit more smoke but its just harsh and gets me light headed really quick. really need some help here

Could be humidity. Have you smoked this new pipe in Australia before? Are you sure there isn't a leak in a gasket joint or a hose? Is the head on securely?? If you are sure it isn;t the pipe, air out the tobacco some more...sometimes, near the water, if you are picking up a humid flow, the humidity will vary throughout the day, making acclimation difficult.

You got bubbles in the water with the top of the stem covered? Well... that's.... interesting...If you didn't already, take the bowl off and cover the hole at the top of the stem. Sometimes it's hard to completely seal off the bowl by placing your hand over it.

Assemble the pipe, with the head on (but with no tobacco in) and the hose on. Cover the head end with the palm of your hand and suck through the hose. It should be fairly tight. If it is noticebly loose (you are able to draw air)...there may be a leak. If this is/may be the case, remove the hose, plug one end with your thumb and suck through it. It should be fairly tight again...if you can draw some air through there may be a leak. Do the same with the hookah without the hose on. Isolate the problem by checking each major piece by separating it from the system and them drawing pressure to see if it holds. Imagine a tire...if you fill it with air and gas is leaking through, the tire has a leak in it.

I've had a similar problem but it turned out it wasn't the humidity at all.  I think the best thing to do is to check every single connection to make sure it's airtight and make sure the coals are completely lit and producing enough heat on the head.  Humidity does put a bit of a damper on everything but usually isn't the cause of a complete lack of smoke.  A leak is most likely the problem.

That's a pretty good point, but I was assuming you've tried other batches, flavors, brands, out of it. If not, it could be exactly what enima for your lungs said.  It's not that uncommon for different batches of the same flavor to have a completely different taste.
