The Founding Of The Hcec

Recommended Posts

So as I have my booth with banner set up advertising for hookahpaloozah, a short portly man in a red 'student life" shirt comes up, and regretts to tell me that hookahpaloozah booth is not only being forced to close down, but hookahpaloozah will be disbanded. This is due to hookahpaloozah not being associated with any student group.

Dave fought the law, and Dave won.

This disturbing incident was the beginning fo the formation of HCEC, the Hookah Culture Enthusiasts on Campus.

"The purpose of HCEC is to recognize, amplify, and deter any misconstrued views on the art of Hookah, its culture and of the Middle Eastern Culture from which it originated. This is a group centered to outsource and reach to not only those who believe in the same goals as HCEC, but to reach to those who are uninformed or misinformed of all said above".

Artical one of the HCEC's newly founded constitution (Why, Yes, it WAS a bitch to write).

As of right now it's simply a loop hole, but if we can get a following of 50+ people by next year, we can apply for a grant from the Student Government Association, and get a funding of an average of 400-500 dollars. We could buy hookahs for the group, ande many other things!

THE POINTTTTT OF THIS POST... Was that I was wondering if you have seen anything like this in or outside of any other campus? Anyone ever had thoughts on starting one? Why not? Try it out! It's working so far for me!

NOOOOO. Bad word choice, my fault. What I meant to say was, do how the national frats do, and have a organization in each school in the surrounding area. We could keep in contact, have local area meetings, etc.

Definantly NO hookah frats. Lol.

Might want to note that hookah origonated in the punjab region of India, not the middle east. Other than that thumbs up.

Very true. Probably should explain that it was the West Northern Provinces of india. M.E wasn't until much later. Duely noted, tyler.

That's another thing. I'd like to give alot of history on the hookah, everything to where it began, how it grew, how shisha actually generated from, things that your average college kid doesnt think about when he's at the hookah bar puffin away on some starbuzz.

Well you could always start by the different branches. Hookah as we know it, origonated in punjab; however, the egyptians were the first to use the sheesha that was use now (sheesha literally meaning glass, so the glass base). In India, they used a coconut. Keep in mind there are also many types of tobacco, from the broadleaf bariety that most people are familiar with via virginia, to the sleek leaves of the basama plant origonally from Greece (probably the plant used in the origonal palestinian/syrian hookahs due to the trade routes through the Saudi penninsula).

My three roommates are in PBr, I live in their first frat house, I am a good friend to the drumline frat. SRU-IUP meetup sounds nice...let me know, I'm in Slippery Rock once in a while(my cabin is up there, co-owner of 75acres)...but if you can make it to IUP thats great because I can organize the squad...shoot me a PM
