Most of the shisha I get lists itself as having 0mg of Tar. But there's a whole lot of variations. I mean, like that harm reduction journal and that video... If 1session is a hundred ciggs, then 4 sessions would produce that much tar. I've been lazy enough to not change the water for 4 sessions. My water don't get black as death. And then again, the guys in that harm reduction shit, they were smoking upwards of 150g bowls. Shiiiit, I pack 10 grams (which truly isn't a weight comparison to ciggs, maybe they forgot that shisha is wet?) and 10 grams lasts me well over an hour.

But my posts just goes to show.. Even when someone conducts a semi-legit test, there's always gonna be the person saying "Well you did the following things wrong:" ... Please mind the spelling errors, I'm typing on a digital qwerty pad (cellular)

actually i think your very right. basically the video on my first link is a hookah-almost with a cig instead of shisha. when i smoke back to back bowlss (about 4 hrs rarely) the water hasn't changed color even the slightest. except for when the juice ran down the stem one time...the water was red after some AF mango or guava

The fact of the matter is, we don't know. No rigorous study has been performed and provided conclusive results on the cumulative dangers of hookah smoking versus other means of consumption. We can talk at length about how it couldn't possibly be as bad as cigarettes because it smells better, doesn't get burned, is wet, doesn't leave stains, but that's not very convincing evidence for anything. It probably is less carcinogenic than a cigarette for a given quantity of smoke but that's where this "It's like smoking x amount of cigarettes" bit comes into play: so much of that smoke is inhaled in a given session that even if it is less dangerous, the sheer volume may negate that.

At the end of the day, smoking is bad for you. Always has been, always will be, I hope we don't need anymore studies to tell us that.

Well, actually it does tell you something. I made a science project when I was in school.

It had a bottle full of cotton, in the bottom I had made a hole and fitted a pump, and there was another hole on the top in which I had fitted a thin pipe. To make it work, you just had to light a cig and fit it in the pipe and then made the pump to enact a 'drag'. It showed that the cotton turns so bloody brown by the time we finish just one cigarette. Now when you take into account that our lungs are just one big web of nerves with kind of a film on it (just for the argument), you would come to the conclusion about how long term cigarette smoking can lead to all that brown mess to build up inside them.

The other night, I put some cotton in a bottle and dig a hole in its bottom while smoking directly into it, and the cotton hadn't changed color even the slightest bit by the end of my 1 hour session.

So I guess it can't be as bad even if you think about it like smoking 'x number of cigarettes' ?

This is basically what Yurukov did.

I hate when I read or hear studies like that. "1 hour of hookah smoking is equivalent to smoking 1 pack of cigarettes".....really?
Let's test this, let's take a hardened cigarette smoker and see if he can smoke a hookah for 1 hour. Then see if he can smoke a full pack of cigs in 1 hour.
Then, take a nonsmoker and have him smoke a hookah for 1 hour. Then take a nonsmoker and have him smoke a pack of cigs in one hour.
Actually don't eve try this, just imagine it. You could seriously get hurt trying to smoke a pack of cigarettes in 1 hours, why are people so retarded in their claims?

i smoke cigarettes and i'll tell you that i can't smoke a pack of cigs in one hour.... but i can sit there with my buds and smoke hookah all night long. whoever did this "study" got their facts backwards... haha

I found the video with sound: http://www.break.com...n-Hookah-487465

That's interesting. Hardly scientific, but anyone who makes a filter out of a Stabuck's cup gets an A+ in my book. Combine coffee and cigarettes and they could have named it corporate America.
