Chris K
Hey everybody, i've smoking hookah at a local shop in my hometown for about 2 years, so i'm pretty tight with the owners and know a lot of the ins and outs of packing and setting up....now i just need to get one of my own. My situation: college kid living in on campus apartments this year. There is a community patio area that has 3 tables/4 chairs each, which i see some people smoking cigarettes at but apparently its frowned upon. there is also a courtyard on both sides of the building though. i also have a buddy with a porch (albeit a small one) who's house i'm at every weekend. this and the porch at the lake will pretty much be the main places i'll smoke, so i need something somewhat versatile but still easy to transport. so far, i've been looking at: Mya QT Mya Petit Mya Odyssey (acrylic) and the hobo. I like the qt because its reputation, petit because of its size, odyssey because its acrylic and looks awesome, and the hobo because of how easy it is to transport. I will be sharing this with groups of 2 to 5 people in most situations, and the porch at my buddy's house really is tiny., and i'll most likely be inebriated at one point or another in the night. SO! Given my situation....what would you pick? feel free to name any not on the list. my budget is between 40 and 80, just as long as i get one that i'm happy with and its a decent value. Thanks in advance!
king_lunchb0x
all very good choices for ur situation, personally i would go with either QT or odyssey . petite i would think as a back up personal or travel... not really for several people. I cant say anything about hobo's never smoked or seen one in person.
IainUM
QT. i don't own one, but i have smoked from some, and they are really solid hookahs. qt's can also come in double hoses, too, if you want
Venger
QT smokes like a champ can be converted from one to two hoses. comes in a cage that it can set up in. The last item was a seller for me as I camp a lot. I set up the hookah in the cage and can carry it around while I smoke. Plus the cage protects it from breaking. Chris K
the one thing holding me back from the QT is the fact that its glass. the odyssey would be great from a durability standpoint, but at 23" its a lot to carry from one end of campus to the other in a bookbag. the hobo would be great for portability, as my buddy will always have spare handles/bottles/etc., but i haven't heard too many reviews on it. another plus to the hobo is that i can easily experiment with different liquids in the base, as i can just discard the base afterward. the bad thing about the hobo is that using it on the porch of my quad will draw even more attention, as it won't look like as much of a "dedicated" hookah. Epoch
The QT and Odyssey are both built strong and will smoke like champs. Can't go wrong with a starter like that.

They are terribad and really hard to light with a lighter if you are going for portability 3 kings would work best. no taste imparted to the smoke and MUCH easier to light will MUCH less smell. Chris K
ok sounds good, i thought i had heard the CH QLs were the best, don't remember where. but yeah, i won't be able to do naturals until i get a place of my own. i plan on getting AF for my first shisha purchase, but are there any other must have companies/flavors? i love a good buzz, but i also love a flavor that lasts awhile. Lucy Ford
i'd go with the odyssey. I have a two hose and had it for a year and a half. I have a small power rangers(yessss) duffel bag that i transport it in. it breaks down into several pieces that i wrap in a towel so they don't bang around too much. Plus you don't have to worry about the base breaking and seeing as you're in college, there will be drinks going around and you don't want to worry about someone knocking it off the table and breaking the base

Chreees
Might want to order from HJ so that you can just get everything from one place. Hookah-Shisha does not sell legit Tangiers phunnel bowls. HJ does. Good choice on the QT, btw. My favorite Mya hookah, although I own a Petite right now, and it smokes just as good. I'd also get a washable hose (I prefer Nammor) but HJ only sells the Narbish.

[/quote] I've had my Nammor (now modified with a custom handle) for over a year, no problems. People have their preferences. Some like Nammor/Razan, some like Narbish. I don't recommend Narbish for QT users because of the hose port handle. Makes for a awkward look on a small hookah- even though the handle is shorter on the v4. Just my personal opinion. I wasn't telling him to get the Nammor over Narbish anyway... merely that John doesn't carry the Nammor, if that's what he wanted to get for a washable hose. Chris K
Ok, revised order. I'm thinking Mya QT with the 2 rommans from HS (they have the smoke and it comes with the starter kit. Nammor from HS Tangiers small phunnel from HJ, and some tangiers flavors (recommendations please!) and 3 kings from whichever is cheaper (what size?) Chreees
Hmmm... I'd go with CH QLs over 3Ks, but really I'd choose NO QLs period, as they give me headaches. My favorite natural coals are Coconaras, Al Fakhers, then CH Nats. In that order. In fact, I'm not even really that crazy about the CHs, but hey, they work better than QLs. General consensus on the forum though is if you're gonna go quicklight, go CH.

Chris K
Ok, I'm not really partial. I just need to have at least some quicklites because...well...the state i will be in when i use it at my buddy's house, i probably shouldn't focus on lighting a natural. i will get naturals for the lake house does anybody have any tangiers recommendations? i've never tried tang or anything too exotic. I've had double apple, lemon mint, blue mist mint, strawberry mint, and a few other combinations of those. My guess is just cheap shisha.
Chreees
My favorite Tangiers flavors: -Static Starlight -Kashmir-Cherry -Horchata -Indian Summer -Peach Iced Tea -Double Orange (not available right now) Make sure to get it in Lucid. Lucid will be a LOT easier to work with for your first time using Tangiers. Everyone's fav flavs are different, so I say just try what flavors you think you'd like.
