Shisha Mat/Rug?!

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I got one of those rubber-based, industrial mats from a local hardware store for like $3.99.

I swear, though. I could have a mat that was 10,000' square and dropped coals would find a way to roll for hours and hours just to burn my carpet.

towels from hotels are good, easily replaceable

I hope you don't get caught stealing towels from hotels. At the hotel I work at we charge a pretty penny for each towel you steal. I'm guessing you pay cash, hm?

I used to have one of those "dot" rugs from IKEA for this purpose - it was super cheap, you can get it in a ton of different colors, and it does the job.

I think I have what you are talking about, lots of little squares that can be connected together.

I got a box of six for $10 on clearance at work. Does the job for me.

For cheap rugs...

First, check with the back-to-school sales, and the school move-out days (depending on season), as you'll see a lot of rugs that people are marking down to sell to college students and then rugs that college students throw out in turn.

Also check out your local Habitat for Humanity, as they will sometimes run stores to sell material that was donated or salvaged. The one near me has several types of carpet squares for CHEAP at the moment, including 1' square "puzzle piece" style carpets, like 15 sq ft for a few bucks. Heck, you could even buy some vinyl flooring cheap and rig that up.

Otherwise, any old towels/cloths/rags will help.

Oh, and a fire extinguisher is always nice to have handy, just in case...

I've been smoking hookah for around two years now and it only occurred to me a couple of days ago that I could use and old sheet as a hookah "mat." I have a ton of sheets I never use. It's been great, it's easy to shake out, and I can throw it in the wash whenever I feel like it. Also, it's mostly cotton so it's less flammable. It's also purple, a very soothing color for hookah.
