Fine Damascus Steel

I am a collector of blades. My love began in Japan in the 60's and I began to look for blades I could afford. Today a new one arrived. Its a Mughal Indian khanjar done in bidri, a process that lays silver on blackened zinc steel. The blade is of 512 layer damascus and worked with a bit of silver. The hilt terminates in the head of a ram. This guy also made me a sword cane of similar steel awhile back'

I still have my Vietnam Kabar, just a great survival knife, can chop, cut, dig, hammer, kill, skin, scrape etc. A Khukri adds even more to that cmbination as it works well as a machete also and opens many new knife fighting moves with its downward curved blade. Truly the greatest combat blade ever made!

I had a friend in the SCA who used to hand make Damascus blade. He went by the name Shadowmaker and all his blades were named. I could never afford one and NO ONE is willing to sell theirs. We knew his as The Troll. He died years ago of lung cancer.
