HAD to get more! Reviews to come.

Recommended Posts

Man I think I am hooked!

Last night while playing some games on the computer I smoked the last
of my cheap brand tobacco. The Triple apple wasn't bad and the cotton
candy wasn't bad either but I think it was a lesser quality tobacco. I
am down to my last coal, nothing to smoke and am VERY low on cash
untill friday. But I just HAD to get more!!

Went to a smoke shop near my place. Walked in and was suprised on the
amount of hookah stuff. They has chinese hookhas (like mine
=/  ) and some other brands. Nothing too fancy. Nothing that I
would purtchace for my 2nd hookah.

They had hoses, different coals, bowls and a nice selection of tobacco.

So I picked up 3 small 50g sample boxes.

First is Al Waha Cola.
Second is Al Waha Lemon
And third is Al Fakher Orange

I am still new to this so my review will be based on a beginers
experience. Think that might help other new smokers. you experts might
find my review lacking. But your experts and probably have gone through
all the flavors.

I typed up a nice review and E mailed it to Catalysy for his site. I
was going to paste it in here but I guess thats not an option.
Please take a look at it and let me know what you thought. It was directed for beginners like my self.

Tried Al Waha Lemon and really liked it!

Ok. Here it
goes. I am smoking while writing the review. I am still a beginner so I hope
this will also help out other beginners.

Al Waha
Lemon

Smell: Smells great. Like a fresh picked Lemon. Came in a 50g
box and was wrapped in two layers of plastic and then a sealed pouch. I DID NOT
let the tobacco sot out to get acclimated. I wanted to test it first out of the
box (and I wanted to smoke before work).

Cut: Looks good to me. I didn’t see stems. And if there was any
they might be small. This tobacco looks a lot more like others I have seen on
the internet from other smokers.

Smoke Density: So far so good. (smoking it right now). I am
using a smaller Chinese made hookah (well built considering) One 3 kings coal,
foil with a random patern of holes and I also put ice in the water to make the
lemon kind of POP. Like a nice glass of Lemonade. I have been smoking it for 25
minutes now and still has good smoke with minimal coal rotation.

Flavor: Very tasty! Reminds me of a nice cold lemonade. I think
this would be a great summer smoke. Maybe something to sit on the porch and
enjoy. Also would be a nice after dinner smoke. I close my eyes while smoking
this and seem to pick up on the flavor much better. Kinda takes you away if
that doesn’t sound too gay.  Been smoking
it for about 30 minutes now and still has a nice taste with minimal coal
rotation.

Rating: (Out of 10).For my first review and first real tobacco I really like
this flavor. I will definitely acclimate it and try again. I would rate the
smell to be a 9. Smells great in the package. Cut I would also give a 9. I don’t
have much to base this on but it looks good to me. Smoke density is good. I
will give it an 8 because I haven’t had too much experience. The lower number
doesn’t mean it wasn’t nice. Just don’t want to go for a 9 yet. And the flavor
I will also give a 9. Nice flavor. I bought the lemon for the heck of it, not
thinking it would be as good as it is. I recommend this flavor for a nice
summer day or something after dinner. It’s nice and light with a nice tobacco
buzz and not too overpowering.

Al Waha Cola.

Smell: Smells Like cola syrup. Has a candy like smell. It’s
a nice sent. I have only been smoking fruit flavors so this was new to me.

Cut: Nicely cut. I acclimated my 50g sample and while
packing it I didn’t notice many (if any) stems. Flaked nicely into the bowl.

Smoke Density: Smoke was great. It took a bit more coal tending than my Al Waha
Lemon. It was always a nice thick smoke after I tended to the coals properly. For
a true beginner I could see how this might turn out bad or burned. But if you
know about coal rotation and tending then you will be fine. I used one 3 Kings
coal for this.

Flavor: Great! Like I said before, this was my first non-fruit tobacco so I
didn’t know what to expect from it. I bought it after hearing others on Hookah
Forum say it was good. I will definitely pick this up again. It had a great
Coke flavor. I really don’t like Coke/Colas because they are too sugary but
this was nice. It made me thirsty for some reason. While smoking it and web
surfing I kept thinking now nice it would be to have a nice tall glass of ice
cold coke. I added ice to my water for a cooler smoke. If you don’t like a
candy-like flavor this might not be your first choice but I think you should definitely
pick up a 50g bag and try it out. The taste lasted the entire bowl (one 3 kings
worth).

Rating: (Out of 10)

Smell: I will give a 7.5.
It smelled nice but had a candy like cola odor. My sister smelled it and
thought it was “gross” but she despises Colas. Smells like a syrup you would buy to make your own soda at home. If
you have seen this you will know what I am talking about.

Cut: I will give an 8.
Looks just like my other Al Waha. Nice quality for what I know. I am still beginning
so there might be cuts that are Tons better but I thought this was good.

Smoke: I will give an 8.5.
I got nice big clouds and was really able to practice my smoke rings. As soon
as I figured out the coals needed to be tended a tad more I was set. Smoked
well for the entire time of one piece of 3 Kings coal.

Flavor: I will give a 9.
I really liked this. I didn’t think the cola would be as good as it was. I let
it acclimate before smoking and used one piece of 3 Kings coal with iced water.
It had me wanting to go get a tall glass of Coke while smoking it. I think this
would be a good flavor to have before dinner. Maybe a nice bowl of cola and
then some nice grilled hot dogs and chips while enjoying a nice summer night
with friends. It just took me to a pick nick in my mind.

Overall: I will give this an 8.7. I suggest trying a small
50g pack. Heck if you don’t like it I will take it. =) Its worth getting it to
try.

Al Fakher Orange

Smell: Has
a very natural Orange smell. Makes my mouth
water to smell it. Smells like a blend of oranges, tangerines and maybe a bit
of lemon. Opening the box and smelling it made me think it would be a great
smoke.

Cut: It’s
a very fine cut. A lot different than the two Al Waha flavors I tried. Didn’t
see any stems. The tobacco seemed a bit too small compared to other brands. All
and all it was ok.

Smoke Density:
Smoke was great! Very thick. It took some careful heat management and coal
rotation to produce the good smoke. Too much heat and it would get too thick
and harsh. This was the first time I ever coughed while smoking so far. I didn’t
like that. With the right amount of heat it was nice. Definitely not a beginner’s
smoke. You have to know a bit more about the heat and coals. If you just threw
this in a bowl and went for it I think you would have a bad experience.

Flavor: I
used ice in my water again. It’s been warm in San Diego so I wanted to have a nice chill
smoke. I also squeezed a fresh orange from my tree and put the juice in the
water to enhance the flavor. This was the first time I added something to the
water also. At first the flavor was like orange medicine that kids take. Kinda
a candy orange flavor. Not too bad but not even close to the Lemon I tried the
other day. Kept smoking for about an hour. Used 1 ½ three kings coals. One
whole piece first and then finished with a half. The candy/medicine taste went
away within the first 10 minutes but it never really picked up a nice orange
flavor. It was a subtle orange through out the session but I was disappointed over
all with the flavor. After having the Al Waha Lemon (which I thought I would
hate) I was excited to try the orange in hopes that it would have the same
flavor and pop but it never reached that level.

Rating: (Out of 10)
For smell I will give this a 7.5. It had a nice orange smell which made me
think the smoke would be great. For the cut I would give a 6.5. It seemed to be
too finely cut. The Al Waha had nice big pieces of tobacco and was easier to
break up and sprinkle in my bowl. Smoke density would be a 8. After messing with
the heat and coals it made really nice smoke. (Getting better at the smoke
rings.) If a totally new hookah smoker were to use this I think they would not
like it because of the tendency to over heat the tobacco. And for flavor I will
have to go with a 5. It’s first taste was like drinking kids medicine. I gave
it a chance and it went away but was only replaced with a low to medium orange
flavor. Not at all what I expected or wanted from this flavor. I think I will definitely
try other brands’ orange flavors but I wouldn’t recommend the Al Fakher Orange.
This was the first time I was disappointed with a flavor and probably wont be
the last.
