Al Fakher Grape Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

this message is for the old smokers like myself. I remember the days, four or five years ago when the Al Fakher grape was delicious. It was everybody's favorite. All my friends requested it. IT was the hit of the town! Sadly, and I think this was debated for a long time, the taste have changed.

My question is simple: Does anyone know a good grape? Something that will remind me of the good taste of Al Fakher grape? I tried the Tangiers, the Starbuzz 'golden grape' and another that I cant seem to remember. They are good but not the same.

Thank you fellow shisha enthusiasts for your opinions.

A.

Yeah i remember the good days of af grape, before the ketchup plauge.

Personally i like El Basha grape....its a nice grape flavor with a small hint of floral behind it. Good smoke.

El Basha Grape is great, but not a AF Grape replacement. I was actually on the same search as you, ammoura...and sadly, I've come up empty handed.

I'm still on the lookout, but no luck so far. The closest I've come so far is AF's Golden Grape. It's nearly the same as AF Grape except a bit muskier(darker?) flavor and a bit more perfume. If you find a suitable replacement, please post back. Edited by Arcane

Your right, El Basha is not a direct substitue, but, like you, I've yet to find one that comes close to how it used to be.

And Chris, personally Static>Old AF Grape any day.

Anybody, my Arab brothers or otherwise, know what they use for grape in the Arab world? It's always awesome, never ketchupy....but I don't think it's AF Golden. Never had Basha so not sure. It sorta reminds me of AF white when it was still good.....I wonder if we in the West just get screwed over?

AF and Nakhla are by FAR the most prevalent in the Middle East, so it's almost certainly one of the two

I hate to use the SB words, but....... They made a black grape flavor that was like real grapes bursting in your mouth without any additional flavor notes. I haven't bought Starbuzz in quite a while, but if they still make it, it's one of the few Starbuzz flavors I really liked. I never got the old AF Grape so I don't know how it would measure up in comparison though.

I gotta give SB credit. They do pure fruit flavors very well. Their pineapple is awesome too. Now if only it wasn't washed and cost so damned much

I have the same feeling about the SB Exotic White Grape. Dead on a puckery, sweet white grape juice. I swear it up and down, I've tried it in a hookah bar and I've tried it in my KM, a staple in my collection.

Not a huge fan of SB, but this is one I loooooove. Not a AF grape replacement, but certainly a DELICIOUS white grape.

I didn't like El Basha grape, but maybe I got a bad 50g sample.

I can't vouch for having AF grape in its haydays, as when I tried it, it was like fruit gone bad, mixed with chemicals. nasty crap. SB black grape is ok, but kinda fake. I can't vouch for any others, than layalina grape. I like it. While not a very realistic grape, its still an enjoyable smoke. Grape is one of those flavors that just never translates well into shisha it would seem. Will have to give Mizo grape a try next order.

Grape never tastes like what grape should taste like. It tastes more like blackberrys or ribena

Yes, AF Golden and the grape in the Mideast is definitely blackcurrant tasting, but I like that!

It's exactly that blackcurrant taste that was so delicious back then. Its that taste that have disappeared from current versions of Al Fakher Grape.
I'm adding the Nakhla mizo grape and Golden AF grape in my next order. Any blackcurrant shisha out there?
