lostbob143
ok, so I need help. I am a regular hookah smoker and have been following this forum for a while. I smoke out of a mya with a regular mya bowl normally and have become very used to the setup. Well today I went out and bought my first phunnel bowl and some nakla to smoke out of it. i got it all set up and ready to go and to my dissapointment it is not smoking very well. My smoke is very thin. Very flavorfull but very thin. Im sure its a heat management issue but i cant seem to get it figured out... I used the tealight candle mod and poked small holes around the outside. I dont know what i'm doing wrong. Help please?!?
Epoch
More coals and/or more tobacco. Make sure everything is sealed up airtight!

Chreees
Hmm, I've never used the tealight mod with Nakhla... try it without the mod and see how it works. Perhaps you had it packed too tight around the mod not allowing sufficient airflow? Or perhaps you didn't apply enough heat. Probably one of those two things. Nakhla works best packed tight, and it should work with the tealight mod, but I've never tried it. I've only ever been interested in saving Tangiers. Let us know how it goes. Matto
Yep, Nak needs a lot of heat. You may try a couple different brands as well, in my experience nak smokes better out of a standard bowl. But it should do alright in a phunnel when packed correctly and heated properly.
lostbob143
Yep, that was it. More heat was the answer. I just added some more heat and it smoked very well. I am very pleased with my purchase. Thick, very flavorful smoke down to the very last hit. Quick question though. the mod with the tealight candle, is it only supposed to be for one time use? When my first bowl was done I went to take it out and load another bowl and it was a pain. Some of the tobacco was burnt to it and it was not easy to clean. Should i just buy a big bag of the candles and make a new one every time? seems like it would be easier just buy a class one.
Genie
I used the tea light mod w/my Phunnel at first but then found I didn't really need it. I reused the same tea light tin over and over w/no problems, but they're so cheap, wouldn't hurt to have a couple cleaned, cut, and ready for when you want to smoke another bowl right away. Having the tin perfectly clean wasn't necessary, the burnt-on bits never interfered with the taste of my shisha. I've had to reuse foil before, and you know how skanky the foil can get, that was never a problem either.
