Cloud9
Having smoked hookah over the years (although I still consider myself a noob)...I've had plenty of disasters. Ok...that might be to harsh of a word, but when the coals fall off and burn your living room carpet it's not a good thing. Since then I've been smoking outdoors only. Now we're getting into the cold season...with rain and wind, and the last thing I want to do is tough out a hookah session by sitting in the cold rain. For you indoor smokers...(and I assume most of you smoke in the living room)...what do you place your hookah on? I was thinking of a cutting board but that doesn't seem big enough (and looks kinda tacky). I'm renting right now and the last thing I want to do is have a friend tip over another coal and burn the carpet AGAIN. haha Any cool ideas out there? Cp44
I cut out a card board box and lay it underneath the hookah or smoke on the balcony.

iMPeRiaL 619
A crappy towel or rug does just fine for me.
Cole.
Generally mine goes on the floor (hardwood) or on my coffeetable. It's a nice table, but I got it on the side of the road so I'm not particularly attached to it. So far, so good with not knocking poor Brutus over. Small hookahs help. ryno
A rug is always good if you're renting. Something hard and flat to sit to the hookah base on on the rug is even better. I used a street sign for awhile, but a piece of wood would work too.
Genie
Lots of people buy a rug or use an old rug for this purpose. I use either a large, sheet that I fold in half or quarters spread out on the floor or an old, faded cotton table cloth. I like it because I can go shake it out. For my little Bambino though, I use a small table that I've cut out a large piece of cardboard for (same size as the top of the table) and glued foil all over. When it gets ripped, I just glue more foil onto it.

Sapphire
I got one of those square plastic patio drink tables . Cost like 10 bucks at wallmart. Works perfect. I can move it anywhere in the house or outside when ever I want.
Stuie
I mostly smoke in my home office, Hookah sets on a small rag that covers an old highschool year book. HAHAHAHA Seriously! In the living room i put it on the coffee table which has a big area rug underneath.
TheyCallMeDave
At EKU I typically smoke under a tree, or by our big fountain. No need for a cover on the floor. At home, I set my hookah on an old towel.
jorlyfish
I have a Bambino, so it just sits on my desk, which is masonite and pretty beat up (belongs to my school). It already has all manner of x-acto knife cuts, paint, watermarks, etc. so I figure a little (potential) singe mark from a runaway coal isn't going to make a difference. dizzbizz
I smoke outside so they sit on the floor. If I smoke inside they still sit on the floor, cause I have tile.

Lucy Ford
I have a lot of rally towels from going to penguins games the past 15 or so, i mean a lot, and i have nothing to do with them. So aside from the 90's towels that i love dearly, i use them to put under the hookah when i smoke in my room as a sorta make shift rug. they get dirty and i throw em in the wash with my other towels. If i smoke in the living room i usually will set it on this old beat up coffee table i have (and my roomates hate) picked it up outside of some house my freshman year. Its got shit written all over it and lots of holes where we used to throw knives in it.....so i'm not to broken up when coals fall. OH and pizza box never fails, as mentioned above. thatonethere
I sit my KM on a rug when I'm smoking outside. Inside, I smoke my Mya Qt, and I use a wooden serving tray. The tray sits on a old rug I bought for $5.00.

Oh, and I make sure to place a wet papertowl on the toilet seat so I get a good seal. Oh, and one other thing...
