i see people raving about this tobacco but i dont taste anything when i
fire up the hookah, am i doing something wrong? all i get is smoke but
it really doesnt have any defined flavor.

sounds like humidity shock. Let the tobacco be exposed to the air for several hours, and try again.Im sure Tangiers will bust in and explain

Like a dog chasing after a car, the tobacco changes moisture content slower than the air does. Leave it open to the air for 12 hours or so, to acclimate, especially the first time you open a new package of tobacco. If your jacket is wet, you lay it over a chair to dry out faster, spreading it out, rather than throwing it in a pile by the door. Tobacco acclimates faster in wide, large, shallow tubs (effectively spreading it out over a larger area).Even though the package says so, I believe Starbuzz has switched to washed tobacco. Not a guarantee at all...I don't know for sure, just what I hear on the local industry street corner. Also, Al Fakher was sold, so expect some changes in the next 6 months or so in Al Fahker. Another rumor. Do people want to hear the completely wreckless, unsubstantiated rumors I hear?
