skiracerj1
Jst got my most reent order of tangiers in from hookah company containing watermelon, blue gumball, and mango, along with a tangiers bowls and some golden coals. First let me just say that I was blown away by the tangiers bowl, the thing is huge, it nearly doubled the height of my qt! A very unique design that I quite like, really tall stem with very wide but shallow bowl section. Just based on the few smokes I've done with it it seems to be the hot ticket to getting the most out tangiers, best smokes i've had yet with the stuff. Now then on to the reviews...Watermelon:Cut: black and dense like all tangiersSmell: Not qite what I expected, not a frity watermelon but more of a watermelon gum smell, if any of you have had bubblicious watermelon gum this stff smells exactly like it, like spot on no difference. I have to say I like it, its not a "real" watermelon, but I dont care about that, this stuff smells awesome!Flavor: Just like it smells, and real strong flavor too, absolutely magnificent, can't really fault anything about the flavorSmoke and Harshness: Real thick billowing fluffy clouds of whimisical dreams basically. Heat managment was rather easy for a change with this tangiers, my guess is it that thats due to the bowl though.Buzz: Oh nelly, 10 mintues of smoking this will prodce abot he same effect of a epileptic staring at strobe light ntil he's choking on his own tounge. Not necessarily a bad thing, but take this one laying downOverall: A very nice smoke, everything I had hoped more, but due to personal tastes I'll give this one a
skiracerj1
Blue Gum Ball: Cut: the usual sight of black death, or perhaps hope springing enternal? Smell: Odd to say the least, kind of chemicaly smelling, generally indescribable, but not an overwelling sweet gum ball, but then again do gum balls really have a scent? Flavor: Now were talking, despite the weird smell it tastes like a blue gumball after all, but not in an overally course sugary kindof way, like if you took the flavor of the blue gum ball and left out the excess sugar, actually somewhat tart.Smoke: A little thinner but nice and smooth, still quite thickthough, after an hor of smoking my room still looked like the moors of britain in wuthering heights.Overall: Very pleased, and pleaslantly surprised, I wasn't sure about this one but since it will soon be leaving us I had to give it a try and now I wish it wasn;t going away, this easily earns a spot on my frequent re order list, but alas the bell tolls for thee. Do yourself a favor a pickup this flavor before it disappears in the obscurity legends are made of. I give this a 9.5 because its just about as perfect a shisha I've had, only two flavors I've ever had top this oneGuava coming soon....
Catalyst Paintball
I guess I really need to get a Tangiers bowl?!?I smoked Watermelon today, and did not get a "real strong flavor". Got the thick pillows of cloud, but no huge flavor.I guess I'll try it again tomorrow.Oh yeah, sumbit your reviews to the shisha review site! skiracerj1
How long did you let it acclimate, I find this makes a big difference in flavor. Also the tangiers bowl made a huge difference for me at least. Made it much easier to get thick smooth smoke for some reason. Finally, by really strong flavor I mean its a very noticable flavor, not necissarily overwhleming by any means, but you definately know what your smoking with this stuff, and it lasted throughout the bowl
Catalyst Paintball
I let it "openly" acclimate for 3 days and it is stored in Gladware type containers with plenty of holes.Today, I tried a new method of smoking Tangiers as discussed in a eariler thread. It basically has you cut up Tangiers into smaller pieces.I also didn't get a distinctive, "WATERMELON" flavor either.
skiracerj1
weird, that definately should've been long enough, I only let mine acclimate for 5 hours (im in a dry climate though so thing acclimate quickly). Its definately not a real watermelon like a i said, but nice candy watermelon
Catalyst Paintball
Well, I'm in Santa Clara, California and it has been pretty dry here as well. Like I said, I'll give it another go tomorrow, but I will change the coals from Coconut to 3 Kings.
Sonthert
Its not how dry or how damp it is...its how stable the humidity is.Sometimes people have problems that they don;t realize...they keep their tobacco in an air conditioned house, but smoke outside...the air conditioning gets turned off at night, before they start smoking. All these things can drasticlly change he humidity of your house.
skiracerj1
Thats very good point tangiers, I never thought about that as a variable because i always smoke in a climate controled room so its never been issue, but i did bring my hookah to a party once and struggled tremendously and couldn't figure out why, it seems obvious now though. Skimo
so whats the difference between that and a mya clay bowl. he said he was pretty wide but the mya looks alot wider, just wondering cause the hookah i ordered comes with that bowl and if the tangiers bowl isnt going to help in smoking tangiers then there would b no reason for me to get one haha
Sonthert
I think they are the best ons on the market, one of the few handmade ones, certainly the only ones handmade in the US. I think they make the Tangiers smoke slightly better.
Skimo
ok as long as itll make a difference ill pick it up when i get my tangiers shisha
skiracerj1
The picture is somewhat decieving, once you get it you'll realize what a beast the thing is, and quite the work of art as far bowls go as well. Definately bigger than the mya bowl (which I also own) Oh and the super thick, super long shaft makes it so much easier to pick up a hot bowl too! Hookahnoob
I dont understand how the bowl would make such a difference...What about the Tangiers bowl makes the flavor and smoke so good??
skiracerj1
Well its not going to revolutionize your smoke, but it does offer quite an improvement over my Mya bowl, and heres my theory as to why: The mya bowl relative to the tagiers bowl is deeper and not as big in diameter this mean theres relatively small surface area on top and in order to get the tobacco on bottom up to temp you have to overheat the top tobacco a little, now the tangiers bowl is much more shallow ths allow for one even layer of heating and more efficient use of shisha. It made a more than "just noticeable difference" for me, but its not idiot proof and still reqires delicate heat managment, but not nearly as much so, if any of that makes sense
Hookahnoob
LAst night I bought a new hookah and a Tangiers bowl from the legend himself. Also boight two 100g flavors. But blueberry and peach. I didn't let it acclimate very well and it smoked alright. I have been letting it sit out for a while now and she smell is getting stronger. I will try another bowl later tonight. Skimo
i wouldnt have never thought about the heat managment on a deep skinny bowl rather than a shallow wide bowl, good point tho
looloopoopie
Is there much of a volume difference between a Tangiers bowl and a Mya bowl? Also, is there really that much of a smokability difference between the larger and "standard"-sized Tangiers bowl?
skiracerj1
Well i got the standard sized one and have no experience with the larger one, however volume wize its pretty much they same as the mya bowl. I recently went back to the mya bowl for a session and there deffinately is a difference in smokability favoring the tangiers bowl, not huge, but enough to be noticable for sure
Hookahnoob
So with the tangiers, should I let mine sit out for a day or something? It came in a sealed plastic bag and Tangiers gave me some containers to keep it in. I want to get the killer flavor I hear everyone talking about. You have to see his bowls! They are very nice, high quality made. Nice colors also.
Bleeding_Heart1
I store my Tangiers in gladware along with all my shisha(in different containers) and it does fine. Id let it acclamate if your having problems.
Hookahnoob
I haven't had problems. I just want to take care of it before I try it. Do you think keeping my Al Waha wraped up in the box is a good enough container? Or should all the sheshia be in glad lock type containers?
Bleeding_Heart1
I store my 50g in the boxes unless its a special flavor(one ill smoke every now and then aka. coffee) If its anything else, go's into a container.
