noodle
Can someone here reccomend a good place to repair a Yellow Light of Death on my 60GB Playstation 3? I sent it to Sony for repair almost exactly one year ago when the optical drive croaked. Now I'm a bit wary of sending it to Sony again because 1) I haven't backed up the hard drive for a while, 2) I'm afraid they'll substitute some other model of PS3 thus losing my ability to play PS2 games. I know my way around electronics, but I'd just rather have someone who's done this repair before do it for me. BGA packages scare me.

If Sony can't even fix it and is forced to replace it, I highly doubt that anyone else can.
Chreees
Hit up your local game stores- I have a Play N Trade here that fixes 'em. There's also online places that you can ship it off to that promise you'll get the same PS3 back with your HDD just like it was. Most people say fuck it and get the new Slim. That's what I did. Traded in my 60GB (I never played PS2 games on it anyway, when I thought I would) for $80 and got the new Slim for $300 the day BEFORE they even released. Play N Trade got 7 in early and went ahead and started selling them to customers who asked. I got their last one. That was an amazing day. My Slim hasn't given me any troubles. They built the damn thing I'm sure they can fix all of its problems. I'd say go to a locally owned place. If you go to anywhere corporate they'll just send it to Sony. Xbox ftw. Chreees
Yeah, that's exactly right dizz. It's easier for them to send it down to Mexico to get fixed and just send you one that was just fixed in Mexico. It's called economics. Welcome to America.
