Hookah Forum Member Talking Hookah On The News!

Recommended Posts

I was approached by a local news station because a buddy of mine, the one who actually introduced me to hookah, knows a guy at the station who was doing a piece on hookah. Since he knew that I had taken off with hookah in a very big way, he asked me to do the piece and agreed to do it with me. This was filmed some time in July, but just aired tonight. Most of what I was interviewed on didn't make the cut, but I guarantee you I defended our beloved hookah 'till the bitter end. Every concern she had was answered logically and with facts and research, thanks to you guys at Hookah Forum.

What in the hell was that one guy thinking by saying there is no tobacco and no nicotine? Was he a hookah store owner? Idiot! Makes the rest of us look like idiots! Well, I liked your bit! Thank goodness not everyone they talked to was a moron, I did enjoy it and thanks for sharing it!

Lol... you should hear some of the stuff my business partners say. They're great guys but aren't passionate about hookah culture like I am and have never had the interest or taken the time to really dig deep to learn about it. Ironically, since they are "hookah lounge owners", they consider themselves authorities in the field and go around telling people all kinds of crazy stuff that I have to come back later and correct. It's pretty weird. Oh well. It's a tradeoff I suppose. Their real passion is beer/wine which they know all about while I know relatively little.

We've had a couple of things up on the news lately. I'll have to see if I can find them.

The guy who is in the store talking about there being no nicotine in shisha, I don't recognize the box that's on the counter next to the hookah. Was he maybe talking about some kind of herbal shisha and they just ran it like he was talking about ALL shisha?

yea I worry about that old man...
did you see his hands shaking when he was sucking on his hose?
Gosh, his VOICE! Here he is saying, in his weak, gravelly voice, that hookah is so much better than ciggs because there's nothing in there to hurt your lungs. Not the voice I wanna see representing hookah smokers everywhere, you know?

nicely done they would have not cut anything so that way the could inform the public on how most real hookah owners feel. the way the shisha looked that the old man put in his bowl didnt look like no herbal hydro i think it looked like nak or al waha..stupid false information

not the best representative of a hookah smoker, probably a life long cigarette smoker, couldn't make that junior work, put cheap unlit ql's on, just makes it look bad.
poor doctor was about to cry at what people are doing to themselves.

good job op, the media will cut and splice things out to get their message across. at the end it was like a gloomy message, young service people are bringing this back with them from iraq, omg, the war is terrible, look what it's doing to our young men and women who are serving our country, some people really need to get educated. imo, one of the most positive things, if you can think positive about the war, is that people are learning about other cultures and actually being introduced to hookah, it's really great. this piece makes it look like in addition to all of the horrible things that soldiers have to go through in war they are somehow getting hooked into something really dangerous.

at least there was some coverage and you did well for yourself, thanks

That guy is the owner (? I'm assuming) of a local smoke shop. They specialize really in cigars and pipe tobacco, but they are known as THE hookah place just because they have the largest (read: practically ONLY) selection. I had not seen his part when I was interviewed, so it really threw me off when I saw him talking about how there's no nicotine or tobacco. I don't know, but it was kind of disappointing to see that the other guy on "my team" didn't really know quite what he was talking about or else was misquoted. Regardless, it was a fun interview to do and the lady seemed legitimately interested in hookah and how we hookah smokers saw things. I never had high hopes for them actually putting all of my pro-hookah statements in there, but I can't say I didn't try.

I'm glad you guys liked it! I've been waiting for them to hurry up and air it so I could find a link for you.

So were all in agreement that the old smoke shop owner guy is going to get his hookah card pulled and kicked out of the hookah club
You got it, primo, that guy is a total hookah peasant and has no business running a shop let alone talking about hookah in public.

Wow, what a biased and misinformed news report...

That old guy needs to be shown how to do it right. He looks regoddamndiculous throwing that quicklight on and suck-suck-sucking on the hose. And it's not tobacco and has no nicotine?! Who the hell taught this guy about hookah?

I'm just waiting for a PROPER study to be done to blow all these other so-called "studies" away...

Props though, Hojo. You did good man. And beautiful OG Tri!
