I've tried both, and the both work great, for me personally though i like the goldens better for two reasons, first they work great with tangiers, at least for me, and they light about twice as fast, once my stove gets warmed up it only takes about 1 minute per side before the coal is red all over. However they are both really good coals and the difference between them is minimal. One other thing its alot easier to break the golden coals into consistent pieces that the nours.

I use Japanese Golden Charcoal, Japanese Abu Hitham if I can get them.I have used gunpowder disk and natural and natural reprocessed coals. I have gotten them all to work with varying degrees of success with Tangiers.

I've used both...I just like the fonger type coals better. They are a lot more trouble to get started, but..i think the trouble is worth it. I for one can Taste the difference..and I don't like the quicklite disks...

Now golden hookah, is that not the golden quicklight coals? If not, I
haven't heard of them before. But I have used Nour, Diamante, Manara,
and a few other obscure brands that I'd never seen before. out of
those, I'd have to say my favorite were the Diamantes.

You can spot Diamantes from far away because they come in the bright
red bags with flames on it. They give off a great medium of heat. Not
too hot, but still strong enough to rock.. They are also constructed a
little bit differently than most other fingers. I can't exactly
remember the explanation I was given, but it has something to do with
the binder. Anyways, because of their unique construction, they produce
half the ash typcial finger coals give, which is sort of nice.

If you can, try the diamante brand.

Its funny to see the change in preference of coals over time on this
forum. I remember when I first registered that golden coals were the
sh*t according to people (except for the slight chance of exploding on
spark up :)   ), then 3kings were next in line, then the finger
variety.

Anyone else remember these? It seems like everyone now hates the golden
quicklights. I've used em, and they were no different to 3kings IMO. I
didn't even have a problem with flying sparks.

Oh well, things change. :)

i bought some of those canary's off eric. They were okay, but personally i like the noor ones better. The canarys dont last very long and stacking them to light seems like a good idea but it doesnt really work. The noor ones last longer but ash alot more, but they are also way cheaper here. Canary are about $12 retail i get a kilo bag of noors for $5 here. So take your pick
