Heba Diffuser

Recommended Posts

i just ordered a new egyptian nile hookah (hasn't come yet). And am now kinda getting back into smoking hookah as much as i used to...anyway so i've been reading up a lot on heba diffusers and decided i didn't want to buy one just yet because my new hookah has not arrived and also because i don't really know how well it works. So i improvised and decided to make my own heba diffuser, by taking the plastic cap of a body spray bottle and poking lots of holes in it with a big hot needle and for the seal i cut a slice out of a cork-screw and fit it to the cap, all i have too do is cut a hole in the cork screw now to fit the stem. I'm interested in seeing how well this is gonna work with my new vortex bowl too.

what r ur experiences with the heba diffuser?

I have never tried one purely because of what others have said about them. I've heard that all they really do is quiet the hookah down. However, some claim they also get smoother smoke. I'm leaning more towards it's a placebo effect, but I really can't say for sure until I've tried one myself (which I doubt will ever happen).

I haven't used a Heba diffuser, but I've made my own out of a small plastic container. It's nice, I guess, I haven't noticed anything change in smoke quality, plus I like my hookah to rumble. I like to use it if I'm watching a movie or need to be quiet.

I use one almost every time, but do not notice a significant difference in smoke quality or quantity. I smoke in the dorms (i.e. where I'm not supposed to), and often while listening to music/podcasts/a movie, so I appreciate the noise reduction.

From my experience it makes no difference in smoke quality and makes the pull a little tighter. It does mute the sound a little, but I love listening to that hypnotic bubbling. So yah a diffuser is a no no for me, but if noise is an issue then you might want to use one.

I know my friend uses one because he owns a double black pear. Smaller bubbles, smaller vibrations. That tower can seriously shake coals into next week, so fore him it's a satbility thing. It helps a lot.

Hallie's hookah will shake the coals all over, this may help...or i'll bust out my home made one. we just rely on a wind guard to hold the coals in

Hmm interestingly i was expecting everyone to think it was amazing cause' that's what most reviewers have said on hookah-shisha.com. i guess i will just have to judge for myself when i try my home-made one out. I didn't see the point in buying one if i didn't know if it was going to fit my hookah to begin with. But if it makes the smoke less harsh and thinker than i'm all for it.

i really see no difference with how well it smokes, but it helps with sound. My lady doesn't have one and its annoying when we're watching a movie. smoke=no effect. noise= muffled.

Im guessing everyones experience is different coz of what/how the diffuser is made...and what hookah it attaches to...Ive tried it and get this fear that the smoke is not passing through the water....not unless my heat management is off again-- Ive tried it in a MYA and a KM....seems better in a KM coz it does make alot of noise (I like puffing like a chimney-thats just me)

Well I for one LOVE it. I use one every time. I have tried with and without it using the same sheesha and same coals. I do notice a much thicker, smoother, and cooler smoke when I use it. I never go without . Of course, that's just me.

I use one on my KM and love it. Without it, the hookah is loud(mostly smoking while watching TV or movies) and the bubbling rattles the bowl, shifting my coals. I haven't noticed anything special with the smoke, just that it calms the rumble...I recommend one of these if you are getting a tall hookah

Agreed. I think they really improve the texture of the smoke, especially on shishas that are harsher.

I really like them. For $10 you get two - one small and one large - so it's definitely worth the money. Before I tried one I had experimented with a various assortment of homemade contraptions with little luck. The Heba works best.

Do they make a difference? I don't know. Sure they make the hookah quiet which I really like sometimes. They also reduce the vibration of the bubbles which I've noticed can make tall hookahs wobble. Physics tells us that using a diffuser cools, filters, and hydrates the smoke as it passes through, but honestly I can't really tell if it's doing all that. There's probably a better design for it.

The Heba Diffuser is wonderful. Totally worth it.

It makes the draw smoother/more consistent and truly cuts the noise in half..at least. After using the diffuser, smoking without it sucks. It just makes smoking nicer.

Also, if you have a smaller hookah and have trouble with the coals moving from the vibrations of the bubbles, it will solve that. Edited by Yasseah

well good to hear some good reviews, my hookah should be arriving today. it's 22" so not too small but not big either. My home-made diffuser is not much different from the one's on hookah-shisha which is where i ordered my hookah, only that i don't use rubber as a seal. I sliced off a piece of cork screw to fit the cap and stem. I'm also trying tangiers for the first time since the shop in my city doesn't sell it....so i'll try with and without the diffuser..and let you guys know how it went.

I had bought one of these when I first got my hookah a few years back. Other than being a hookah silencer, I did not notice an improvement in smoothness, taste, or smoke density. The only thing I did notice was the major loss of airflow, and having to inhale that much harder to get a hit. Also, the heba diffuser is made of an absorbent material. Now while this is supposed to be sucking up the bad stuff, guess what. Its also soaking up your nicotine. Now, I don't know about you, but the buzz is part of why I smoke hookah. This is why I smoke unwashed shisha, because I like to get a sit your ass down on that couch buzz. The heba diffuser works against this.

Also, read the fine print. It is meant to be DISPOSABLE because it is absorbent. Its only meant to be used for about 20 session, IIRC. After that you are supposed to put on a new one, since the material is past it absorption point, and is probably leeching god knows what back into your water.

All in all, I felt that it was NOT worth the added cost to my hookah experience. Now if you made one that was for just the purpose of making smaller bubbles, out of metal or something, atleast it'd be a permanent addition.

But seriously is it REALLY needed? I mean, unless you are not setting up your hookah right, it should be 100% smooth as it is. How can you get much smoother? I could not get more dense smoke if I tried, I already exhale mushroom clouds for christsakes.

At the end of the day, anything that restricts airflow to me, is not desirable. I buy wide gauge hoses, large ID down stems, and bore out hose ports for a reason. I want my hookah to hit as easy as breathing, and to get me some serious smoke. The diffuser works against this.

I respectfully disagree. I have been using my diffuser for about a year and it does not restrict airflow.

as for it being disposable, oops...hasn't altered my sessions in any kind of a negative way being over used by 1500-2000 sessions
