JDHarding
I've been chatting with John, and he has quite a few of his Narbish version 1's leftover that he'll let me have at discount. I was thinking I could repair them and sell them to you guys. Would any of you be interested in a repaired Narbish V1 that doesn't leak? I can also repair them to your specifications, like shortening the handles, or leaving the hose port handle off, and keeping the mouth piece detachable. This is also making me wonder if I have the skills to build my own hoses and sell them. John also has his Syrian Beater hoses, which I like the handles on, and could replace the leaky hose part with some plastic tubing, wrap them up pretty, and sell those too. Would anyone be interested? I don't know if this is the proper place for this topic or not, but currently I'm not selling anything, so I guess it's okay to have this here. I just don't want to jump into something like this without some support or pre-orders.
Chreees
I'd be interested in getting just the hose, no handle, with the hose port handle part modified so that it is no longer there. I'm going to be getting another delSol_si custom handle, and need a hose for it.And then I may be interested in getting a rebuilt Narbish as well. JDHarding
Hose port part not there? So just the little thing that fits inside the port? That's do-able.
Chreees
Yeah, I absolutely DESPISE hoseport handles. They're ugly, heavy, and just plain pointless. May be a reason I like Nammor/Razan so much...
kmccoy90
Are there any pictures of existing v1s? I don't know what they look like off the top of my head.
dizzbizz
I'm interested. just as long as these wont be as expensive as the v4s. I'm planning on buying a couple v4's but I'd definitely go with you for cheaper.
Woodsytheowl
Are there any pictures of existing v1s? The main difference in the v2 and v3 were detachable mouth pieces and v4 was shorter hose port handles, I believe.
That photo is from HJ's site. The v1's I've received all had detachable mouth pieces. I think v2 is when they weren't detachable and v3 was when they were again.
JDHarding
Well, the mouth piece is already detachable on the V1s. People didn't seem to like the hose port handle, so that's easily removable. I plan on getting rubber wrap to wrap any connecting parts to make them leak proof. The difficult part is re-wrapping the handles with that nylon rope. I can make the handles detachable too, if people want that. Then the hose part could be used with other handles. I'm sure I can find all sorts of stuff at the hardware store to do that with. As for pricing, it all depends on what the buyer wants. I'm getting these on discount, which is lower than what John's selling the V1s for, so I can charge pretty much anything. I'm thinking somewhere between $14 and $18 per hose. Maybe $16? I should just get into making hoses, find some material sources, and make a business out of it. Hoses are mostly thin PVC pipe and tubing. Nice thing about doing my own is I can make huge handles. Like 4 foot long or something. Or ones that touch the floor. Edited November 21, 2010 by JDHarding
JDHarding
Actually, forget the rubber wrap. I'm gonna use adhesive heat shrink tubing. It's way more durable and water/leak-proof.
dizzbizz
I think 16 is reasonable. If you're gonna do this count me in
IainUM
i MIGHT be interested if you can make one without the long hose port handle. personally i think the long hose-port handle is just asking for the hose to not get a good seal because it weighs too much
JDHarding
Huh. That's another person that doesn't like the long hose port handle. Me included. So long hose port handle is gone! No more handle!
JDHarding
Okay, so it looks like John only has red and green V1 Narbishes left. That sucks. I don't know if a lot of people want those colors. I personally wanted a blue one. I think I'll just get into making my own, let you guys see how they turn out, and whether or not you want any. When I start selling, I'll move this over to selling if there is a selling or vendor area.
mitchard
1) Buy KM Metal Tip 2) Buy/Make wooden hose port end piece 3) Rip apart the leaky port end 4) ???????????? 5) Profit Still washable too. Just have to make sure to not get the wood wet.

dizzbizz
I've rebuilt my own v1s and I know how time consuming re-wrapping it is, so I was wondering maybe wrapping it in a cloth or whatever to make it easier? Cause personally I wanted a black hose and a blue hose. I'd pay extra for a soft cloth on the handle instead of the string also people would be able to get the colors they want. The original Narbish was unique while the v4 is just a rebranded Abu Mahir (Razan). My guess is that John simply got tired of the manufacturer screwing up his orders so he switched to the same people Mahir is using. Personally I like the earlier versions better because they are longer and much more durable. Sure they're crap if you don't mod 'em, but for a few cents worth of supplies and a little elbow grease you can have a better hose than anything else currently on the market. Chreees
Yeah Dan, I want one like that most likely but I figured I could just get two red ones rebuilt and if I still want to use just the hose part then I could rip off the handle. But I'm thinking I'd like it too much and just keep them both as-is.
