ukhookah
I am from the UK, and unfortunatley we can't get a single coil burner in the UK. I have purchased one from america and it had failed on me due to the difference on voltage output! Now my question is is there any particular electric hotplate someone would recommend that I could easily purchase from uk? If there is then post link. At the moment I am using a blow torch! antouwan
get a converter. then, on your next order from the states, ask the vendor to pick up another burner for you? other than that, no clue.
Matto
What type of stove do you have that you can't use for naturals? If its gas but the grates are too big you can get some steel mesh to set them on.. If its glass top it will work too but leave a pretty much impossible to remove discoloration after lighting many.. And if all else fails and you can't get anything to work CH quicklights aren't too bad, they're no coconara's (imo) but are better than other ql's. ukhookah
I have a brand new gas cooker and I don't want to ruin the hob with coals sitting on the hob.
The Jester
http://www.amazon.co.uk/US-UK-Plug-Travel-Adaptor/dp/B0006OFKNC I thing this is just the thing you need... except the hotplate is already ruined (destroyed, short-cicruited use whatever term) It would be nice if you would say whats the condition... ukhookah
That hotplates dead. I did use that, but that's not what it requires. I needed a transformer which at the time I didn't realise. And transformers are not cheap.

magick777
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I was browsing the German retailers recently and spotted one that runs at 230V by default. http://www.sheesha24.de/Kohleanzuender-+elektrisch.htm (page in German, I use Chrome which can auto-translate), 35 euros plus 13 shipping to UK. I must say, it strikes me as expensive and slow. If you have a gas cooker, you could easily make a metal pan drilled full of holes to sit on top of it and light your charcoal cleanly, and that would be faster and cheaper than an electric approach, but I thought I'd pass on the link in case it's useful. ukhookah
I puchased a flat iron hot plate. Although its not as quick as a coil plate, its still does the job. Thanks for link though.
