Finally Converting Camps

I want to get a KM, but not just any KM. I know that aesthetically they're pretty much pick-your-poison, as they all smoke similarly from what you guys have said. So, that being out of the way,

I want a Chiller.

Now, for our R&D people out there who own every accessory known to man, I heard this thing [url="http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1998-mod-ice-hookah-chamber-adapter.html"]http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1998-mod-ice-hookah-chamber-adapter.html[/url] was total garbage.

So, I guess my question boils down to this: Since it's a KM chiller and integrated into a stem, will it work well? Or will it rust/corrode/fall apart?

I want to get a chiller regardless. The big inverted bell at the top really appeals to me, so It's now just a question of performance.

What do you guys think?

Chillers are really only for aesthetic purposes; they don't really cool the smoke noticeably if you put ice in them. I myself find them to be quite sexy as well. As for rust and whatnot, I don't hear about it on them.

Out of the ones you listed, I like the Fifa or the 1001 Nights best I think. I don't like, however, all the gawdy little accents all over them.

I have a KM chiller that i picked up locally, i have noticed some effect on the smoke, but i really just like the looks of it, the only down side, when i do put ice in there, after it melts, i get water all over the place getting the stem out of the base just to go dump the melted ice....that wording may be confusing....but i got around that problem by putting crshed ice into zip lock bags and putting it in the chiller part. i'm with chris, i don't care for the stuff all over the stem, i like a basic hookah, but hey, if you like that stuff go for it man.

Or even cheaper, still. I've got a couple of KM ice stems for sale which would be perfect for you since you are getting a separate jumbo vase anyway.

i'd buy one from someone on the forum. no point in spending more money on something when you can get a good condition one for cheaper AND be helping out a friend on the forum. then everybody is happy

Jon Bon had me remove his for now but he will be reposting it along with a different vase and a hose, so don't fret if you were looking at getting it (I don't think you were, though).

You seem to prefer the gawdiness... so if that's what you like, then go for it. I personally agree with Iain, however, and would pick up just a stem from a member on here. But this ain't about us, it's about you.

Only HookahJohn and Hookahset sell jumbos, in only silver right now. I don't know why you'd pick it up from HJ though, when HS has it for sooooo much cheaper.

I don't like all the little gold shit soldered all over it, no. but, on the ice bucket some of them have the stamped metal. If I could get one all chrome, with the markings still on it, sure. I've given consideration to skoozle's too. Gotta check my next paycheck.

Trying to make sense of chillers makes my head hurt. There's no way an ice bucket can have much effect. Crushed ice in the vase is much more effective. That being said, I envision a steampunk sort of hookah in which the shaft is a folded tube with radiator fins on it. Someone who's good at forming brass tubing should be able to pull it off.

I have a Syrian Chiller (http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-114-chiller-triple-hosed-hookah.html), and yes, there is a noticeable difference when filling the ice bucket. The smoke is definitely colder, and a little more dense, but not too much. Taste does not seem to be impacted much. So, while the smoke is cooler, don't think that this is going to make your mediocre session, into a mushroom cloud monster session. The smoke will be cold, but that's about it. Shit is already super smooth, without the ice, not like you could get smoother if you do it all right.

Personally, I like the look of the chiller myself. Especially with my Syrian, since it has etchings all over the bucket. It really makes a statement when you see it towering above, with a big ass phunnel on it.. LOL
