dune024
Anyone else noticed that since Coconara started packaging their natural coals in different size packs (108 i tihnk), the size and shape of the coals are different? They used to be flatter than they were tall. They were big squares but they were flatter and wider. Now, the coals are massive cubes. They're much taller, but have shorter sides. So not as much coal is touching the foil with the new ones as the old ones. The cubes last longer, but make heat management tougher. Anyone know if they're still selling the old ones anywhere? I would have included pictures but i dont have em with me right now.
boludo
coconara changed their formula again. The cubes are actually old now... they moved back to flats...
Josh Hamilton
hmmm...I still have a box of the old equilateral cubes...I might try using them this weekend...flats are easier IMO..maybe because Im already used to them
HookahLover25
I'm so used to the Cubes.. I don't like the flats. Maybe I should keep using flats so ill get used to it. CCN is the best coal anyway (My opinion).
Travis
1. Old Flats (first CCN that came out) 2. Cubes (2nd gen CCN) 3."New Flats" (aka 1. Old Flats) Cubes are so 2009......
ih303
According to Kate at Master Sales, LLC, the formula never changed. Personally I think the cubes were the same formula as the original flats, but these new ones burn entirely different. She was intrigued and sent me a box of the cubes for me to test side-by-side. I should do it when I get some time. It could be the case that they made some change at the plant and tried to slip it under the radar. It would also make sense for Coconara to deny this if it meant a slip in quality. I'm not trying to say anything about Kate or any of the good folks over there, just entertaining some possibilities. Even though I prefer how the cubes burn, they're no good in a lounge because they roll off way too much.
Chreees
And to throw another wrench in all of that, apparently they've changed the name of their coals over in the Middle East to Cocomazaya: http://www.coco-nara.com/index.html Apparently the name change over there was because of all the CCN fakes. Maybe we'll soon see Cocomazaya here. Anyway, for me, the cubes and flats all smoke the same. I like both just the same.
mitchard
The cubes were a lot better than both generations of the flats. Much better heat output for Tangiers due to the smaller surface area.
agunn1231
I hope the name change will take place here. i worry about the legitimacy of the Cocos at a few local places. . . I've tried both cubes and flats though and like flats better

Epoch
I've only ever known cubes, and I've been hoping to find rectangular CCNs. I am PUMPED.
ryno
I wonder, can you cut the cubes?
joytron
I wonder, can you cut the cubes?
Yeah they cut fine, but because they are cube shaped it does not really reduce surface area that is touching the foil.
