Starting To Piss Me Off..Again.

Recommended Posts

While I understand that people like KM's on this forum, I am starting to get really really tired of every time someone talks about getting a hookah they like or just got a hookah someone has to chime in with "next time get a KM." How would you all feel if you just got something you really liked, or had finally set you mind on a hookah and someone said to get something else. I have watched and EVERY thread about a non-km someone has to say "get a km." how about we cool it on the KM pushing shall we? I have a KM and its no better than some of my my no-name egyptians.

i should add that I do have a favorite brand of hookah, and I will mention it when people say they are looking for a pipe of a particular size,price,etc...but I don't see someone with a new Nour and say, "nice, but you should have bought a *****."
Its a matter of respect for the people who have already bought the hookahs they liked.

I tell people to get a good brand like KM, Mya, Al Fakher, or Nour/Nawras. But if they have a hookah they like, then there's nothing to worry about...

I know in the past I've said "Just get a KM or Mya," but I realized what I was doing and cooled it. Now I only tell people to get a certain brand if they specifically ask what brands are good to look at.

The fact remains that the VAST majority of pipes in the Middle East either have no brand or brands you've never heard of. Guess what? They all smoke well!

I was recommended a km back when I was looking for a new pipe...and i found mine for 65$ish and thats what sealed the deal for me... i think people recommend km's cause just about everybody owns or smoked out of one...like me :) i wouldn't recommend something i never used, ive only smoked out of 2 pipes 2kms, so thats why i say get a km! if that make sense. Hassouni has spoken many times about Elmas nargile and I've seen pictures. If they were marketed like KM's we'd all want one immediately. There may be small shops making nargile in some back alley of Cairo or Damascus that produces works of art.

wow, i just read this after making a post in the vendor section. timing is bad i guess.
i hear you mush, i really like km's for personal use and awhile back i put a nawras in my collection, now never say never, but i will never sell it, it's just rare. my personal km's are always for sale as i can always get a new one.
it's just that the market as i see it is flooded with cheap chinese hookahs for the most part, there are a few good chinese hookahs, like mya and pharoahs, but other than that idk, also, sb has some good mod hookahs that are supposed to be coming out, but again, everyone tends to go with km.
i wish we had more choices, and am trying to make that possible, but as of now there aren't too many more we have to choose from.

Im not objecting to people recommending KM's. Im pissed off that people say get a KM in a thread where it isn't even appropriate. Like where someone is showing off the new pipe they are all excited about.

I care because people will start to think we are such snobs we wont even let them TALK about other pipes. Plus i run the place so thats why I care.

I agree Mush. My KM is just as good as the rest of my pipes. I was getting annoyed too but that was with QT's.

For what it's worth the Elmas designs are pretty generic in Turkey - almost all nargile cafes use similar, though not identical, looking pipes, and they all smoke fine too. Elmas just seems to do it all by hand, putting a lot of pride and effort in

Personally I just don't think KMs are that artistic, nor do I like the quality of anything I've got from Egypt - though a Temsaah might change my mind since everything I've seen says they're superlative. But when vendors charge $150 for a KM, I would expect FLAWLESS workmanship, as well as something really nice aesthetically. If KMs were sold in the US for what they can be had for in London at certain places (a decent sized one can be had for £30), I'd have a lot fewer bones to pick. Not a fan of the loose draw but others are and KMs sure do give that.

Hey My Nammor Hookahs smoke great to.

I have several no names over the years that smoked just as good. Only reason I got rid of some of them, just got tired of the way the look.

I'd just like to point that this has been an issue for a long time. And it is not just with KM hookahs but also with anti-SB, tangier and nakhla pushing. From my first post ever here that was cleaned up once Mush came around to deal with it...

KM is bad fo my wallet :pardon:
[/quote]

i mean i got my km from caravan for like 60 bucks. if you know where to look, it is worth it, but i dont think i could spend 150 on a hookah. dont get me wrong, i love hookah, but that's a lot of money

KM is doing great marketing, or at least their distributor is. I got an e mail yesterday from one of our fine vendors telling me of KM's 2011 line of quad metal pipes. Its like cars, the 2011's are out and although they looked beautiful in the 4 metal brilliance,$150 is to rich for my blood. KM has done what manufacturers everywhere want to happen, have their name become the by word for quality. I like my KM pipe, but smoke my no name one more most its because its smaller. If I were ever to buy another nargile it would probably an antique one.

I'm not even sure if the distributes are to blame for that. Its "our" fault, mainly due to the "KM OR GTFO" attitude so many people seem to have now.

That said, can't wait to try out the Quad Metal haha. Looks great imo.

what gets me is people saying get a KM when they have no basis for recommendation...nor have they compared KMs to other brands... then again, i hate when people spout of information about products in ignorance... you can repeat techiques and tips you've heard of, but recommending (or not recommending) products, just because other people have said so is ignorant...
