Travis
It saddens me to read all of this. I've made numerous purchases through Hookahset....and I've never had any problems. I still consider them to be a new business, being less than 2 years old, and maybe the holiday rush combined with their move (which was to stay in the hookah business) was a little overwhelming. Hopefully things get resolved, and in time they can earn a vendor thread once again, maybe. As far as deliberately trying to rip people off, I completely disagree, from personal experiences. Mark has called me a few times to straighten out whatever it was that I ordered at the time, and was always trying to be as helpful as possible. No doubt they have the lowest prices on just about anything that I know of, which has always appealed to me. Constantly introducing great new deals to us, which is always nice. As for those that have posted above, the situation sucks no doubt. But call me stupid or whatever you want (I won't give two shits, try me), I'll order from them again. If I start having my own negative experiences with them, then that's when I'll call it quits. Until then I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best, because this vendor has been more than good to me. Rarely would I take someone elses opinion over my own. I'm not trying to under mind anyone here, And Mush, I would have pulled the vendor thread myself to be honest. I'm merely stating what I truly believe. I hope everything works out for those that have been having problems, because losing a, could be great*, vendor isn't good for the consumers. king_lunchb0x
i must give hookahset props for facing this scrutiny head on, im sure there was to much going on..the move, holiday rush...but it still sucks for those who order something and dont get what they ordered. Well Holiday is over so hopefully things would be back to normal. Edited December 24, 2010 by king_lunchb0x
mushrat
We received this response because I PM'd their 2 reps directly, even though this thread had been going for a while now. If they didnt know the thread was going it was because they hadn't been on the forum or, since i can see that atleast one of them HAD been on recently enough to have seen this thread, they were avoiding replying. Either way, while I am all for the little guy (for obvious reasons) trying to compete in a market dominated by a few well established businesses, appologies and excuses only go so far. Actions speak much louder than words. Personally, I would have refunded some or all of Rivets money of it was too late for an exchange, and I would be working very hard to improve my system, instead of making excuses as to why it may have broken down. And I am glad that business has been good for them and their holiday rush was beyond their expectations. But they need to step up.

nun
I've received a bad product from 2 of forum's trust worthy vendors, and had an ok service from a banned vendor. I've never shopped @ hookahset so this thread serves as a heads up for me, but Id still give hookahset a try due to their low price and current offer $5 shipping. jordan
In the past 3 years I've ordered fro several online vendors, many are well known here, and almost every order had some sort of an issue. Most of the time nothing major like leaking tobacco, wrong flavour, missing items like brushes or grommet or even a tray or the vendors descriptions for the item was not accurate like the height of the hookah or the hose length. I figured this is part of ordering online but acceptable once it gets corrected by the vendor. Now I don't buy much online once I found that everything is available locally (40min drive) and the prices are much better, not to mention I can personally inspect the item and open the can of tobacco and smell it before I get stuck buying something online to find out I don't like it . My advice to people is if you live in an area close to a middleeastern population check out the local markets you will be very happy.
glider
i am also surprised by all of these experiences. i have seen a lot of mistakes in other orders from other people but these are always fixed pretty quickly. i just placed an order on sunday. 5 pack of tangiers, cocos and 2 nuhoses. Mark called me sunday night and told me they were out of the schnozzberry that i ordered. changed it to mimon with out any trouble. then he told me there was something wrong with the system of ordering the 16 pack of coconaras. on the site they were listed as 2.40 and when you bought 5 or more you saved 2 dollars on each box.... so 0.40 for 16 coconaras. i purchased ten for 4.60 and Mark apologized for the trouble and subbed out a 108 pack for the same price. less coals but that doesnt bother me in the slightest. so far im rating the service A+. he called me about an issue on a sunday. the day they are closed and was very helpful to me. the website needs a little QC.... but the prices are dirt cheap and, from my experience, the service is excellent. clickhea
Let me start off this post by saying i received my goza today with 2 free extras 1 box of 20 piece kanara coals (seem to resemble coconara, def will be testing these out) and 1 box of el hennaway cherry. So thank you very much for that hookahset you have redeemed your self in my eyes. Okay now after reading hookahsets posts to the forum it seems as if he is taking this thread as a bashing. This thread was in no way shape or form meant to bash your company. i was simply stating my discontent due to the fact i was a returning customer who spent nearly 200 dollars and was not contacted about the issue, instead i had a decision made for me by who ever packed my order. I will purchase from hookahset.com in the future with no worries due to the fact that this company did right to fix my issue just as hookahjohn or hookah-shisha would of done. thanks again to mush and hookahset for helping resolve this problem. Josh Hamilton
Like Travis said this is a new business...my friend described their shop when I had him pick up some stuff in Brooklyn...its located in a predominantly Jewish community and the store front looks like some kind of grocery...least to say you wouldnt suspect it as some high volume internet sales business (guessing) ...but I will say they might be a little under staffed...all I know is there might be only three people working the trenches (Mark-Danny and the camera man)...I see the vendor sales thread is gone but Ill definitely order from them...too bad
Thanks man i appreciated Posted 14 December 2010 - 04:34 PM so i received an email from hookahset.com advertising 100 dollar purchases receive a free hookah goza(being that iam a former customer). Also given in the email was a 10% off code. So i went ahead and purchased over 100$ worth of items, stated in the coments please include the hookah goza and used the 10% off coupon. Today the package arrived and theres a note in the box saying sorry goza wasnt included because the 10% off cant be combined with the free goza. This is not stated anywhere in the email or the website it self, Nor was i contacted by email and given the option to choose the discount or the free hookah. Even with the 10% off coupon iam still over the 100 dollar limit required ($117.22) The following day i even placed another order for $68.93.. so in 2 days i spent 186 dollars in total from this company. I honestly feel they did not do the right thing by me and i emailed them stating so. iam waiting on their response as to which i will let you guys know how it turns out. I've been to Dearborn several times and it by far the "Mecca" for any hookah enthusiast but Chicago has a decent MiddleEastern community and plenty of good shops that sell hookha supplies at good prices.
