IainUM
can you over-acclimate tangiers? like if i have the tobacco perfectly acclimated and leave it outside (where i smoke) can it get over-acclimated and taste bad?
Arcane
what do you mean by over-acclimated? there's isn't really a gray area for acclimation...the phrase "sort of acclimated" or "almost fully acclimated" is still equivalent to "not acclimated". it's either acclimated or it's not... joytron
I certainly think the only issue associated with overacclimation would be a loss of flavor from prolonged contact with the air.
kmccoy90
Over-acclimation is kind of a contradiction in terms. Like Joytron said, it'll just dry it out from exposure to the air.
Chreees
Yeah, having it exposed too long will result in no flavor, as these guys said.
Mahir
Just saw this.... I am kinda new to Tangiers...but I have noticed that yes, too much contact with the air will definitely make your shisha lose flavor. Do you have it in air tight containers after acclimation? jorlyfish
Leave it out and stir every now and then til it smells good. Then close... cheap tupperware is your friend. I never need to re-acclimate before smoking (I actually rarely need to acclimate at all - even with new packs - where I live) but I know some do... Stir it up and leave it out for 30ish minutes before smoking if so...
Travis
I only open 4 or 5 bags at a time because of this. 250g lasts around a week on average for me, depending on how busy I am. I leave the lid off and stir once every hour or so, for about 4 hours, then throw the lid on and let it sit a few more hours. ( I could get by with letting it acclimate less, but this is what works best for me) Never have to acclimate that same bag again, unless I change my location. Never have to worry about loss of flavor due to "over-acclimation", never lasts long enough to happen.
IainUM
ok, cool. cause the koke i got smells a little bit like coca cola, but not very strongly, so i wasnt sure if i should try and do another 4-20 set to acclimate it more or not. i tried smoking it, but it didnt have much flavor. Arcane
never found koke to be obnoxiously strong smelling like other flavors... if it doesn't stink...it should be s'ok....

[/quote] This. Koke never really has a strong smell for me either, and if it does, its almost faintly citrus smelling.
slophead
You want to keep your shisha in a cool dark area for best flavor, and use room temperature water in the vase for best flavor.
dizzbizz
I agree, like other's said, if you leave it out too long it'll lose flavor and become bland.
ih303
Just remember, don't go crazy trying to make Noir taste "right". I wasted many-a-gram of OG because I thought I had to get rid of the tobacco smell/taste entirely and that I was just failing at the acclimation process. Ulitmately, after smoking with other heads who knew Tangiers like Santino, I realized the problem wasn't with the baccy but with my expectation of the baccy. Now I don't bother acclimating a damn thing. I smoke it as I get it and haven't had any problems since.
