Ye i appreciate where you're coming from. I can't really comment about across the pond (i love that expression) but over here, particularly in my area, noone has a clue about shisha, or what it is. I only found out recently and my first impressions were it's drugs, so i think that tends to put off a few young people (and it puts off even more wannabe rebels whe you tell them it isnt.)
But what little is known of shisha, isn't really associated with youths. The hookah image in my area, is really associated with the older generation. if you ever go to our local shisha bar (arya in huddersfield) you will understand what i mean. The image set is more of an upper class, rich, expensive night out.
But meh, the thread starter really did drop himself in it though.

Well, as far as age goes, my 16 year old girlfriend smokes a hookah

well nova does card. just depends on where your at. some people will card you if you look to young. but i see plenty of kids come into aladdin that dont even look 16 and they smoke.  they will be strict if the cops bust them for it. untill then dont be a jackass and ruin it for everyone.
also maybe you just need to stick to pbnation and talk about it. those kids think its agg to smoke underage.
 
p.s. i hate laptop keyboards, im outside smoking right now and its taking me like 5 minutes to type that.
