bradleyclark86
I have a 4 hose hookah that use every now and then with big groups, and I've noticed some build up in part of the stem (see attached pictures). [attachment=5247:IMG_0647.JPG] [attachment=5248:IMG_0648.JPG] I haven't noticed a change in flavor. I've also scrubbed and scrubbed, and nothing comes off, so it's safe to say it won't come off during typical use. Any thoughts from senior members? Genie
I'm hardly senior but.... I don't know if that's rust exactly. Might be, I wouldn't venture to guess--don't know what else it could be though. But I've seen it before on kitchen appliances, on my washing machine, and things like that. I think the only way you could get it off is to buff it off with a Dremel tool--gently. It shouldn't hurt anything though, just some inevitable corrosion that will likely continue to work its way through the metal. We get this on the drip trays on our old stove, I've used Easy Off on those trays and it does make it look better, but I'd be too scared to use Easy Off on any hookah parts no matter how much I washed and rinsed them afterward. Canon
Looks like something else. I'd get some steel wool, that should do the trick.
SweetNut
looks a little crude..lol... if you have an air compressor, blow it out and clean it good
IainUM
i second the steel wool. i didnt know there were symphonians on the forum. i rushed PMA at one point, but ended up not following through for a number of reasons. just kinda interesting to see i guess. i have a good amount of friends that are in PMA since i am a music major at UM
kmccoy90
I third the steel wool. It doesn't look like rust. Try a lemon-based cleaner too. Also a music major here, although my school doesn't have a chapter for PMA.
ih303
You're gonna be hard pressed to get steel wool in there. You'd probably have more luck following Genie's advice and using a Dremel tool. Still, that corrosion is pretty funky. If it were me, I'd demote that pipe to "decoration" status and hope keeping it dry will slow the corrosion. Hookahs aren't that expensive. Maybe start thinking about upgrading. Just my $0.02.

I expected more since we're kinda the "smoking fraternity." Shoot me a message sometime if you have concerns about rushing. Looks I need to start a change jar...
TheyCallMeDave
No clue, Brad. I'll take a look next time I'm over. I know they sell steel wool strips for tight spaces like that, maybe look into somethign like that? But I also agree, with that 42 inch MZ in your house, it's aboutt ime you got somethig to show it up. Maybe a good multi hose KM, or something? Once a Sinfonian... bradleyclark86
I'm leaning towards this one as my multi-hose hookah... http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1731-mya-saray-hookah-obelisk-4-hose-hookah.html I'm one of the few people who can justify the purchase of a 4 hoser Always a Sinfonian.... noodle
If you have a Dremel or similar tool, get a brass brush with forward-facing bristles.

spectrum055
eh just looks like some gobbly gook... I also second the steel wool. hell the one hookah my friend gave me had serious surface rust and I steel wooled it to a shiny finish and cleaned it out hard core and it smokes like a brand new hookah though only reason I put in the effort was because it was a KM...
