jaredm
Hey guys, I just found this: http://www.triplehal...oducts/halooka/ Ordered one out of curiosity (with 25% discount) but now I'm having second thoughts - thinking about going to try one somewhere... Haven't heard any chatter about it on the forum, has anyone tried this yet? Edited December 26, 2010 by jaredm
mushrat
you actually spent 299 Euro on one of those things??
Chreees
Man, that's really expensive... I'm not digging the whole cartridge dealio. If I were to use an electronic hookah, it'd have to take real tobacco, like the Izundu Hookah. This in no way appeals to me. It's basically a huge e-cig. jaredm
you actually spent 299 Euro on one of those things??
Yea.. But in the UK we can rely on the distance selling regulations so if we don't want to keep something we can return it. At least that's the way it's supposed to work but some merchants are more reputable about it than others. I've tried e-cigs before and wasn't at all sold on them, hoping this unit will be somewhat different given that it's designed as a hookah unit so I'm expecting an easier pull and more smoke. Travis
Yeah, someone on another forum was talking about lounges in the UK using these to get around the smoking ban. Suck that it has to resort to that, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I'll stick to my not so expensive classic pipe for now.
mushrat
i look forward to the video of how these things smoke.

Clicky
If those stats are true, about the tar, CO levels, and whatnot, that means I've only got about 15 min left to live? Huhhhh..........Well, I'm about to set up a bowl, if you don't hear from me assume we were wrong all along.
mushrat
well..I'm unimpressed by the blatantly false claims made in this link. Its bad enough we have to fight the states over hookah, we shouldn't have to face mis-information by companies like this. Screw em.
king_lunchb0x
damn that stats link is totally destroying every prospect of hookah smoking
I don't like it when companies need to put out rubbish about other products just to make their own look better. Indicates that their own product maybe doesn't stand on its own merits. Anyway, we shall see when this thing arrives. I had a look through the user manual this afternoon and it looks like all the business happens where the hose connects to the hookah (that seems to be where the atomiser and cartridge go). If that's true then it makes the water totally redundant. I must admit, after reading that I'm having second thoughts :-s It's a bank holiday tomorrow but I'll see if I can find some place to actually go try the unit first. The Jester
@Travis let us know if there is hookah in afterlife personally I cant wait to hear someone to take that thing to a public place where smoking is banned scene: cops come in you try to explain halooka goes bye-bye
Tom1
According to the FAQ page, the thing doesn't even produce smoke? hm... Does anyone want to buy my new e-hookah, it's just a hose with nothing attached! No smoke at all! and you even get to imagine the flavor as you exhale! It can be yours for the low, low price of $99.99!
jaredm
Seems like its not the only product on the market - http://healthy-shisha.com/ exists in the middle east. All the youtube videos of it are in Arabic which I don't understand
Stuie
First off... I have seen several electronic hookahs well before this one...how can it claim to be the first. I have seen several come and go. NO WAY I WOULD PAY THAT MUCH. I would give up smoking.
jaredm
So before waiting for the product to arrive I had a chance to try it at Fakhreldine in London. First a word on this venue: woman at the door couldn't have been ruder if she'd tried; the waiter who served me couldn't have been a friendlier guy. Unusual to see such a contrast in attitudes in one restaurant. Anyway, I was there with a friend (who enjoys shisha far less than I do). The unit is well constructed but looked cheap (flashing blue light just looked wrong). I thought that the flavour (grape) was very nice. However, there were problems in what I thought would be heaven. First, the draw was extremely hard. It felt like someone had literally taken an e-cigarette and put it in the shell of hookah pipe. Like most other people I prefer a shisha that pulls easy, otherwise it really knocks the experience for me. The volume of vapour produced if you try smoke it like a regular hookah was fairly light - too light. I did work out you can make a huge volumes of vapour by drawing slowly for a longer period but trying to do this proved more of a distraction and after a while I developed a burning sensation at the back of my throat. After my experience I decided to cancel my order. The company seem to be very professional and were receptive to my criticisms so I'm hoping they'll be able to improve the product a bit more at which point I'll re-consider buying this. So to summarise, while the concept is there I think I'll wait for a version 2.0.
Hassouni
Fakhreldine is a snotty place. I do love their logo though..... For all those who want truth vs. propaganda re: health, search the forum for Yurukov's post on tar from 1 bowl vs 1 cig
