joanna
My girlfriend just bought this hookah on ebay. It's listed as a "Rainbow Crystal Mya Hookah." First of all, it's DEFINITELY not crystal. Second, I'm almost 100% positive it's not a Mya. There is no Mya stamp anywhere , the metal quality seems pretty shitty...the whole thing just looks cheap. I just want to make sure I wasn't expecting too much, and this is what a normal Mya looks like. Any chance that it's real?

thehelios
That is guaranteedly not a Mya. IIRC, it's called an Astro 2 or some crap like that. I saw some site sell them for around $50 last year. It's not a totally crappy hookah but it is aluminum but the hose is decent though. If you're feeling especially adventurous, the hose tips can almost come off cleanly from the hose and you can easily slide it onto a plastic tube from Home Depot or some other similar shop and make it a washable. dizzbizz
I agree that its not a Mya. I've seen those at some local shops but they don't advertise them as Myas

mushrat
can you send me a link? The guys at Mya love to have their lawyers deal with people like this.
girlfromstelle
I am the aforementioned girlfriend. Called Mya Saray. They were more than willing to give as much advice as possible. I contacted the seller about the hookah and asked for a refund, although his profile says "no returns." If he doesn't accept, or doesn't respond, I'll contact ebay directly. This is just so disheartening. Hookah lovers are a specific, elite breed. We should have each-others backs. And this guy decides to rip me off for $50 bucks? Not cool, man... joanna
Thanks everyone! We have just contacted the seller. It says on his page that he doesn't accept returns, so we're hoping that he'll take this back since it was a false reporting. We also reported him to ebay, so hopefully that will sway him to give us our money back! We are definitely looking to buy a new Mya, and just found a really nice-looking one on ebay, but I want to get your feedback BEFORE we buy it this time! The hose is definitely a Mya, and the bowl looks like one. It also has the same patterns as one that is on Mya's website now, although this exact one isn't on their website now. Please tell me this is a real one!! thehelios
What I've done to make sure if a hookah is legit or not is to google the name you're given. The ebay link was Mya Econo Diablo so just type that into google and the first link is: http://www.southsmoke.com/pd-econo-mya-diablo.cfm If you compare the pictures, they're similar. The only problem with this is that you have to make sure that the website you're fact checking off of is also legit and at that point, you should use the reviews section here for that. It takes a bit of effort to check for authenticity but it's never worth skipping all the research for a potential knock-off.
Woodsytheowl
Is there a reason that you're going to ebay besides the supposed cheaper prices? Hookahset (hookah retailer) has it for $55 shipped but in brown: http://www.hookahset.com/Product_768.html Oh, and dirtcheaphookahs is a reputable seller. I actually talked to them on the phone yesterday

Epoch
That Econo Diablo is a real Mya. Just keep in mind that the Econo line is made with aluminum hardware instead of the usual brass & chrome. It's never been an issue with me, but some people don't like lighter metals. rahl071
Mya will hopefully help you guys. Stick with reputable dealers though. Anything we can do to help, ask for sure. Also, southsmoke.com might be another good place to buy just a hookah, if you don't want the coals and stuff that come with the Hookah-shisha ones. jordan
Southsmoke.com is absolutely legit and they have decent prices. Also the EBAY referenced is dirtcheaphookahs.com and it is also legit vendor. I dealt with them before and they also have good prices and the owner, Sam, is a good guy and lets you substitute vases or hoses and give freebees with every order.
