johan
I had the worst headache I've ever had last night. Just finished one bowl of the (suspected fake) al fakher double apple I have and had just fired up the second when I got a headache, so I stopped. Then I woke up in the middle of the night with a heart that must have beaten at 200 bpm, migraine-like headache (with the visual distortions you get) and what felt like a fever. What can you do to avoid that? I am using natural coals (cocobrico) that I light with a butane blowtorch. The tobacco didn't taste burnt (although it didn't taste much at all either) and it shouldn't have (I was just using one piece of coal cut into to and a wind cover). Since it is winter here I can't keep the windows wide open but I did have my two windows slightly open so that at least there would be at least a little air flow. jorlyfish
Hmm, when I read the thread title I assumed you were using QLs, but it seems this is not the case... Dehydration might be the issue here, or not taking enough of a break between hits to breathe.
Mahir
Definitely some sort of oxygen deprivation here. From my experience, QL's are the only thing I feel weary about when it comes to CO. But of course, as everything....in moderation you should be fine

Hassouni
Cold or not, if I feel heavily buzzed i stick my head out the window or door and take several long slow inhales of fresh air
agunn1231
after gettin CO poisoning 3 times at work. the third time probably should have been fatal. i can say, if you start to feel a headache or dizzness, get some fresh air immediately, and keep hydrated.....you definately had co poisoning. smoking in a place with good ventilation is key too. r1v3th3ad
another thing is that lighting natural coals with a blow torch, they might not be fully lit. The outside could be done, but the inside still unheated...I'd recommend picking up a hot plate. to avoid the feelings you had, I generally try not to have an empty stomach and I keep well hydrated. If I feel any symptoms, I stop smoking and take deep breathes(usually somewhere where the smoke isn't choking me). I just had this happen to me last week...went to the bar, was smoking Tangier's Double Orange and using 3 Kings for the first time in ages...I felt it coming so I started drinking lots of fluids. I had about 8 pepsi's in me and finally had to go outside. I wound up puking for the first time ever from hookah(between the CO from the 3Ks and Double Orange being way too strong for me). I should have just quit smoking when I first started to feel it. and yes, watch out for fakes
kmccoy90
What bar around Pittsburgh sells Tangiers? First off, Pepsi won't help. Caffeine will just make the symptoms worse. Lots of water is better than anything else. Second off, it's probably a mixture of things. CO2 poisoning. Dehydration. Oxygen deprivation. Just remember to breathe between hits and make sure your coals are lit.

[/quote] It was an alcohol establishment that lets me bring my hookah in Pepsi wouldn't hurt me considering how much caffeine intake I normally get Its mainly that my batch of Double Orange is really strong(I dont buzz off Tangiers, but almost every bowl of this I do) and that I had to use 3Ks instead of coconut coals. The bar is a decent size and well ventilated, so I doubt oxygen deprivation, trust me, I know what that feels like from lifeguard training

kmccoy90
Crap, I'm on my phone so that sent too soon. I was going to say lucky you for finding a bar like that. The only places I can find to do that are cigar shops.. and we all know how they smell. And Bates, I just have a little know-how in this particular department. johan
Hmm yes I think I might be taking too long and frequent pulls. I make sure to always stay hydrated throughout the day but maybe I don't drink enough when I smoke. Might be getting a hotplate, the coco brico coals are quite large so I suppose they might not be fully lit. agunn1231, how do you know that it should have been fatal? abjorn, I do have an order of proper tobacco on the way here. Have you ordered from the US? How often does it get caught in customs? Because no way that I'll pay the insane 1560 SEK per kilo tax so if it does get stuck I'm sending it right back
abjorn
i order from us yes. just tell them to mark the package as gift and that it contain fruit flavored molasses or something. havent had anything got stuck yet. havent found any original AF or Nakhla here in stockholm for a while. searched around 2-3 weeks ago in about 10 shops before i called it a day
