Anyone Tell Me What Brand This Is?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me to identify this pipe? It's a 28" Egyptian style pipe, not especially ornate, but I'd be quite interested to know who it's made by. We have two camels, a tree/flower at the top (can't quite identify), and some text in Arabic that I'm unable to decipher. Anyone tell me what it says?

interesting i cant acually identify it just a small insight though, the egyptian market is flooded with no name brands of pipes i have certain pieces in my collection with butterlfly markings on the tray support, and some with pharonic markings and some with mixed snake and pharonic markings... every manufacturer has one ... doesnt mean to say these are not good pipes some look good some smoke very well..and i,m pleased with some of the no name egyptians i have... put some pics up of the whole hookah be nice to see it :)

That was the best of about fifteen attempts to photograph it... the inscription is not worn, but it's stamped in such a way that it's not easy to photograph. I hoped that the image would be clear enough to identify what it says; I don't think the image lacks much detail as compared with what I can see on the pipe by eye. Here's a higher-resolution attempt, not limited by upload size this time... many thanks to all for trying to help. I'm quite prepared to believe it's a generic Egyptian pipe, but I'd like to work out what the writing says if we can. In case it helps... below the camel's legs are two stars; we have what looks to be two words in Arabic in between.

OK... here it is... in all its (lack of) glory... this is pretty much as it was supplied a few years ago, it's had a new bowl and a new hose but both are much the same as it was originally supplied with. Stands something like 28" tall, smokes all right when all the seals work :-)

So far I've figured out that the first 3 letters are Saad Lam Alif but I can't tell if the middle letter has a dot on top or bottom or is just a HaH I think the first lettter in the second half is a Ta`h then a Lam then a Baa-

So we have Slahtlb...I'll have to play with the lighting on the pictures a bit more to fix any mistakes...

You've got it. It's not Taalib like student, but Talab, which means request (odd name, but there's no Alif)

It's for sure: صلاح طلب

Cool, thanks folks (or maybe that should be شكر )... so the concensus is that it says "Salah Talab"? Not that it matters, a matter of idle curiosity as much as anything... it smokes well enough and I'm not talking myself into a KM, so I guess it's what I'll be smoking for a while... :-)
