Tang And Coal Types

  1. 1. What kind of coals do you use with tangiers?

I've found almost any high quality coal will work if you keep in mind the heat output. Higher output coals need to be broken into smaller pieces and spread more. I know Tangiers is notoriously finicky, but really I've never had a single problem and maybe in the three years I've been smoking it, one bad bowl. I don't think I'm remotely an expert. I just think my particular packing and smoking styles line up with Tangiers requirements.

ok i could really use some help with this..i use ch nats split in half on a tang small phunnel. Lately i have been have some rough sessions with my tangiers noir.. pear, brambleberry and koke have been giving me some super harsh smoke.. Rani mentioned to me that it doesn't need much heat at all so i even tried splitting a 1/2 in 1/2. so 1/2 and 1/4 on the bowl was barely producing any smoke but still that smoke was still harsh, like a bite in the back of the throat (not the tingle I use to get). I havent smoked much of tangiers but I haven't had this bad of a problem since the first time I tried it. Sorry If i am thread jacking but it was a perfect time to ask for help with tang in a phunnel. Maybe I am just not cut out for noir?

Thanks for the Shishaco love Incubus!

Hey, King, maybe you should just try an extra layer of foil? Noir is a bit more harsh, I have trouble with it myself--both the "tickle" and the coma.

I only buy AF nats since thats the only coconut coal I can find locally. They seem to be a real bitch to cut in half, so I use 3 whole coals on a small phunnel and two if I pack it in my mini egyptian. No problems yet.

Yup.

Lunchbox, youtube Eric's packing video if you havent already and take a look at that. If your getting any kind of tickle and or harshness, it's either not acclimated fully, or your packing technique needs some playing around with.

Fumari Japs! I love them. They are exactly like Golden Canaries and use

2 on a crown classic glass bowl

3 on a small (centered)

4 on a medium (edged to centered depending on flavor)

4 on a medium (centered)
