Lucy Ford
Howdy folks This past summer my gf wanted a new hookah, as the one she had kinda shit the bed rather quickly...it was a hack.... Anyhoo i suggested she get a mya because i had mine for over 2 years at that point and had never had a problem. Well recently (for a couple months) she has been getting all these white spots inside the hose port and from what i can tell all inside the pipe itself (we settled on referring to it as 'coral'). We scrape it off/out as best possible and within a week its all back....its naaaaasty. Anyone know what this nastiness is? P.S. don't get one, its shit. The top is rusting and apparently cheaply made; the silver is peeling off.....peeling.
Yeah, one of the issues I have with most of the Mya pipes (excluding the bambino) have a rough interior open heart, which makes for difficult cleaning. My friend has one of the bohemian myas and he can not seem to permanently get rid of the oxidation.
rahl071
That sounds like oxidation. How do you guys clean it? I have, what, 5 myas now and not a single one has "peeled" as you describe.
kmccoy90
If it's an Econo line, it's just coated aluminum. The materials are more likely to oxidize. My Francesco gets pretty grimey sometimes, but I have yet to see any wear on the metal.
mushrat
damn..that isn't all that common. You know if there is a problem you can call MYA. They dopn't talk on this forum (long story) much but they do pop in and keep up. They stand by defects in their manufacturing. These guys really do care about quality, even though they make them in China. Take a minute and Call them. As for the white stuff, do you have particularly hard water? Could be mineralization. Ya, the normal Mya are Brass Cored with a chrome finish. The Econo are just that, econo. tThey are aluminium cored. I always get a kick out of people making a big deal out of Brass Cored Hookahs like the old KM's and ALL the regular Mya pipes are made that way. kmccoy90
I didn't think of hard water. If you rinse out and don't dry, that stuff will fester and grow. It's not harmful, but it is definitely a nuisance.
yeah you can really tell the difference between mine and her stems' weights. Had i known it was econo i wouldn't have let her buy it. I may have to give them a call but i bought it from a local hookah shop so idk if that means anything for mya

mushrat
They generally back their product no matter who sold it. Still their hookah after all. The peeling is the issue I believe they will respond to. But since I dont work for them I am only making an assumption based on what I know of them.
