SmokeChamp
Hello all, Iv decided to buy a hookah after experiencing it for the first time with some friends in NorCal. This is the hookah i am going to get: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-7075-mini-swirl-1-hose-hookah.html Also getting: Foil Pack Fantasia Pink Lemonade 50g Romman melon berry 50g Wild Red Raspberry 50g Extra grommet Heba Diffuser 20 Quick Light Charcoals Does this sound like everything i need? How does the hookah look to you?
Genie
My only thoughts on your purchase are that that isn't a lot of shisha or charcoal, don't know if you have a hookah shop around you or not where you can stock up on more, I hope so. The hookah you've selected seems good enough, reviews on that page for it are positive and I tend to like Mya hookahs anyway. Foil pack.... you can buy that but it would be oh so much more economical to just buy a roll of heavy duty foil. Pre-cut foil for hookah is kind of a rip off unless you just have money to blow. I suggest you spend that foil pack money on another 50 gram pack of shisha. I also think you'd be better off with the Coco natural free coals that come with your hookah, quick light coals reek and taste unpleasant. If you have an electric stove, you'll have no problem at all lighting the natural coals. I light mine on a gas stove but not everyone has the patience to mess with that because the coals don't tend to rest well on gas grates.
Genie
Oh, and kudos on the Heba, with a smaller Mya like that vibration can be an issue. The Heba will really cut down on that.
agunn1231
i have never seen that hookah, nor smoked from it. But it looks like it may not be the best quality....others here should be more helpful with that aspect. Any way, if you have a coil burner readily available, i would say instead of getting quick lighting coals, get some type of natural coal. I say this because Quick LIghts tend to smell bad, and they change the flavor of the tobacco, they also are coated in chemicals so they light faster. The shisha choices you have a good for someone who is new to hookah. A diffuser is not necesary, however, it will make the hookah quieter. sometimes they can restrict the pull. I am sure others will chime in too with their advice.
Guest Cheng
Welcome to Hookah Im not sure what make the hookah is, but it looks like a Chinese made pipe. Looking at the hose port of the pipe, it looks small, so smoke wont be that good. I would recommend you buy a Mya pipe as they are fantastic to smoke from and great to learn, eventually you can buy a KM which is the best of the best in terms if quality. Foil Pack - Not needed, Buy some Heavy duty foil, im not from the US but I think its called Renolds wrap. 20 Quick Light Charcoals - I would recommend Coco Nara coals, they are natrual coconut shell coals with no added chemicals, if you plan to smoke at home most of the time then natrual coals will be best. If travelling then go with the quick lights. Natural coals takes longer to light, but its worth it. No nasty taste at all.

I have a homemade one on my hookah. keeps the coals from traveling.

I haven't taken the time to look, anyone know if there's been a forum review on this Mini Swirl yet? Besides the reviews on H-S?
I agree with Cheng (although he might fall out of his chair hearing me say so), go with a Mya or any other more well-known brand. Buying one of these Chinese made hookahs without more knowledge about them can be unwise. I looked around a bit and saw no reviews on this hookah. You can get a Mya for a similar price and you'll find a lot more research/reviews on them.

Genie
Have you looked at the new Mya Mozzas on H-S? I have the Mozza and I'm thrilled with it. It's 21", easy to clean (well, the vase isn't because the opening is so small). I think the vases on the Mozza and the Mozza II are lovely but others don't agree. The Mya QT and Mya Chic are never bad choices, even though both are shorter than you want. You might want to check the for sale/for trade thread here on the forum. It's a great way to pick up a good quality hookah w/o going broke.

Tyler
Welcome to HF man, glad to see some new faces around here. You'll find a lot of good information here but beware that just like any hobby, everyone has their own biases -- find out what you like and stick with it. I couldn't tell you how much crap I get for being the lonely starbuzz smoker here on the forum (or so it seems haha) but it works for me and I enjoy it, so find your nitch but don't be afraid to explore! There are tons of brands out there and most brands carry similar flavors, a flavor you might hate from one brand might rock your world in a differnt brand (for me I can't smoke any cherry shisha unless it's Tangier's M.Cherry which is one of my top 5) If you have any questions feel free to PM me or any of the users. Some people that I can personally reccoment (not saying others aren't great but based off of personal experience) are as follows: INCUBUSRATM - he is a mod here and a good friend of mine, knows his stuff Arcane - Good guy to know, has a love affair with mint but very knowledgable and a good source of reccomendations Dr.B - Great guy also knows his stuff Travis - no one likes him but hes around (kidding...mostly ) Jorly - sweet girl who knows her stuff Mushrat - the forum father, really knows his stuff and an all around great guy to know Stuie - you'll see that he is responsible for about 90% of the reviews forum, this guy definately took the "don't be afraid to explore" thing to heart haha, he is completely trustworthy and is pretty objective in his reviews
