Molasses, Humectants, Wetting Agents?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with the various shisha flavouring / wetting agents, such as Mola-Mix. Molazzle, Jeff's 7 elements, etc.? These mixes claim to be able to revive dry / old shisha, improve flavour, improve smoke production, etc. and serve broadly the same function as simply adding glycerine, but, many of them add flavour or sugars of some kind into the bargain. If it does what it says on the tin, this would be especially relevant in a country where one can get Nakhla more easily than anything else, and where shisha is too expensive to waste indifferent flavours.

Anyone have any comment on reviving / bulking up shisha tobacco using these mixes? Brand recommendations?

i just added basic honey a few times to some older tobacco. revived it a bit, but it was more so towards being smokable than having more flavor. =/

Glycerine, you can buy it from any sort of pharmacy in the UK. Ask for the pure version. If they ask you why you want it, say you got a cough.

I've used glycerine before for rewetting (with good results), and wonder that some of the products I mention may be little more than overpriced glycerine. That works fine for rewetting, but, that's not quite what I had in mind.
What I'm wondering is about the mixes that carry a flavour of their own, along with a balance of honey/molasses and glycerine, and whether these can possibly be used to turn an indifferent flavour into something worth smoking, or to do more than rewetting to an already decent product. It all sounds too good to be true, and therefore, it probably is, but what I hsd in mind was:

1) possibility of drowning half a jar of nak strawberry in someone else's strawberry flavour molasses blend, e.g al-Waha or Bisan
2) possibility of overpowering any truly crappy flavour with a strong mint
3) possibility of bulking up 250g of perfectly decent nakhla to 300g and improving flavour & moisture in the process

All trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, I know, BUT it's easier and cheaper to buy a few bottles of such things than to buy different shisha. Anyone tried 'em?

Organic Blue Agave Nectar. In most upscale grocery stores. Has worked very well for me.

That's what I have been using. Works great. Plus it's so awesome in Tea and Coffee!
