What Is Havana Thinking?

Recommended Posts

Mods this may be a grey area issue so feel free to take down if so inclined.

Perhaps I am behind the times on this but apparently Havana has an NHT flavored shisha?? Why oh why are they only spreading the all to common belief that our beloved past time is used for NHT? Has anybody else heard of this, or seen any??

Again my apologies if this crosses any forum lines

I haven't seen this... Was it seen on a reputable retailer? I'd have to see it to believe it... I know that some of the minds behind Al Fakher are behind Havana, so I would definantly have to see this with my own eyes, make sure it isn't a off brand or something.

But if it is true, then they are doing what any company does. Appealing to every audience they can. Effective? Porbably.

Completely absurd, and disappointing? Of course.

nope you are cool.

I guess it beats the real thing in your hookah?
seriously though, you make what the market wants, thats how you make money in business.
Ya, they make their own tobacco, nothing to write home to mother about but better than many.

Is there some way we can get some proof of this? If this is true it's a bit disappointing, but I'd rather not condemn an entire company on hearsay.

Havana's tobacco is actually pretty good, in my opinion, cheaper than AF, with the same basic vibe. They have a few really good flavors... their version of Blue Mist and lemon mint come to mind. Nothing spectacular, but cheap, and certainly not the worst you can do if you're in a pinch.

Sorry it was late last night I saw it on a YouTube review by someone I assume to be Dutch.... I assume that its a lot harder to get here in the states and may be exclusive to overseas markets. It is sad that it probably is an effective way of advertising and does help their business... I would post a link to the video review but the title contains a word associated with NHT so Im going to hold off until I get the green light from one of the mods.

I can confirm that I've seen a bottle of a wetting agent in that flavour manufactured by Havana and can find the tobacco online, so, what is being claimed is almost certainly true.

That said, from a European perspective, I don't see why anyone's upset about it, or how it conceivably causes confusion. It is used as a flavouring for candies, for incense, and for beer, all of which are legally sold in many European countries and probably in the USA too. Nobody confuses those with NHT. As far as I can see, the product seems to be sold in the German market, where NHT itself is decriminalised. Where's the problem?

Oh, and the only German review of it that I can find describes it as one of the worst tobaccos the reviewer had ever smoked, so I wouldn't worry about it taking off in the USA...

It matters because it's illegal here in the States and we have a great deal of bad stigma to break regarding hookah smoking. As far as my personal opinion on the eventual legalization of NHT, I'm not against it. For now, however, American hookah smokers who take their pastime seriously have to deal with lots of bull that is only increased by things like this.

First off, the reason there is stigma attached to hookahs is because that was what they were originally used for. In my mind the affects of cigarettes are more inline with hookah and is a much greater concern, yet we do not have a negative opinion on the forum against cigarette smokers.

It's mostly because we are uptight here due to the fact our government on the Federal level is not always in step with our government at the state level. Though one of the first thing our president did when he took office was to tell the DEA to leave the California legal medicinal growing and selling operations alone as long as the state said it was ok for them to be open. I even saw a bill introduced in the NC legislature to legalize it. It never saw the light of day of course but st least its in there.

Now get your asses out there and use your political clout. Lets face it, you carry about as much weight as the Boomers, but they are better organized and are just trying to forget they ever woke up naked in college after that party with XXXX after a party kinda denial. :)

Seriously though. We really are uptight here about such things because we need to keep prying eyes happy. :pardon:

(this rant is my own. The forum owner does not endorse my opinions.)

I just find it funny that tobacco is on the way to becoming illegal but NHT is on its way to becoming legal...Oh, and alcohol is legal yet probably causes the most deaths per year alone (alcohol-related vehicle accidents). How many accidents do you think there are due people smoking NHT? I don't ever hear about them. I just see the guys getting pulled over on Cops. How many fights happen 'cause people are drunk? Replace the beer with NHT and you won't see any fighting, lol. Throw the whole free healthcare thing in there and you really realize its just a huge clusterfuck.

Thank you government for telling us what we can and can't do and trying to protect us!

Back to Havana, they make the best "Pipe" flavor available by a landslide. Hookah-Hookah Cavendish is second followed by AF Pipe. As for what they do in Germany, well that isn't Americans business now is it? Why does the world hate us? Oh yeah its shit like this. Our front porch is filthy, if you haven't noticed.

One of the weirdest things about this to me is why would you want that flavor? I will neither confirm nor deny knowing what NHT tastes like, but I think we can agree people aren't smoking NHT because it tastes good... I was surprised to hear that it's used for beer and candy flavoring in Germany, even if it is decriminalized there. Maybe it's more for the novelty shop/"naughty" sort of factor in all of these products, but even so... Like Mush said, I guess if there's a market for it, they'll make it.
