nate Posted January 30, 2011 Share Posted January 30, 2011 Hey guys, I want to cut down on the time that some of my guests are left waiting around while i'm trying to get my hookah ready. Would it be ok to pack my bowl, cover it with foil, and then just put it (the bowl) in a ziplock container/bag in the fridge until i'm ready to use it? I don't know how long it takes you to pack and wrap a bowl, but I can usually get that done in the amount of time it takes to light my coals. Just curious I have thought about this from time to time. I would think you would want to do this in a phunnel bowl and store the bowl upright because in an egyptian, the juice would leak down and make a mess. I think if you did it with an egyptian and left it upside down to keep the juice in, it wouldn't smoke very well because all of the juice would be up on the foil when you smoke. I think the shisha would be fine sitting out for a while (few days). People do this with Tangiers to try to get it to smoke right. You might want to foil the bottom of the bowl. nathanmweiss Posted January 30, 2011 Share Posted January 30, 2011 I would think that putting your bowl in a sealed container or Ziploc wouldn't be any different than storing the tobacco as you normally would. As long as it's relatively airtight it should keep the tobacco from drying out. And as Skoozle said, you'd want it to be a funnel type bowl to prevent the juices from leaking. I did actually put foil around the bottom and it seems pretty air tight so we'll see how it smokes whenever I get around to it. It's not that it takes a long time to do when people are here, but it's nice not having to clean everything up and run back and forth washing my hands while I'm getting music, drinks and everything else on the go. I have really only smoked the Evolution brand tea leaves, and I have no problem regardless of the amount I put in my bowl. When I started using the free Romman that I got with my hookah, it's seems that I have to pretty much fill my bowl to get a decent smoke out of it. You need to fill it up, with tobacco similar to Romman it should be full, but not packed down. Other tobaccos like Nakhla should be packed tighter. As said, always fill to the rim (or slighty over/under depending on brand of tobacco). From there, each brand or cluster of brands have specific ways of being fluffed and packed. I pack and foil the head and just don't poke holes till I am ready to smoke.Nak is pretty dry so no dripping.i have had it sit for days and it smoked fine. never tried it with the juicier kinds. I think i'm of the consensus now that tobacco should not be refrigerated. I don't think that would have made all the difference, but the bowl and tobacco were so cold that it took a while to get going, which added to the frustration of having a shitty smoke..
