dizzbizz
Man, I can't believe a HF member actually owns a Meduse pipe. They're like the legendary hookah manufacturer haha. I hope you're able to make a video review that'd be really awesome. Great pipe man! I hope to buy one sometime.

Metthew
Hi mates, as I have promised long time ago, I’ve finally done thereview about my Meduse Cascada hookah. Sorry for the delay but I’ve beentraveling recently a lot - of course with my shisha packed in its transportbag… More about it later on. Firstly I have to answer on the FAQ which is: “Is it onlyabout the design? Does it work properly?” The answer is - hell yeah! It does, nperfectly. I have tried lots of hookahs, but the no one is like this. Indeedthere are also some negatives (not only the price). So let us begin. The first think you realize is the Meduses are constructedup side down. That means the glass corpus is on the top, not used as a stand. It is quite unusual in shisha world, but not rare. It brings some certain pros and cons. The best point on it is that it brings all theprocesses into the eye level. So in the conjunction with the clear glassit works like a TV in which you can stare hours and hours. However, it bringsalso problems from which the major may be seen as the stability… Paradoxically, due to its highly positioned centerof gravity and the tripod it’s a bit more stable then the ordinary shishas.Anyway, the problem occurs when you accidentally knock it over, cos the glass falls from height.Frankly speaking, this is what scares me the most, although it happened to me afew times already, but luckily, the glass is 1/3” thick so unless it falls on aconcrete floor, tiles or another hard floor, nothing happens. It felt me on thecarpet, even on the wooden slaps and it was OK. But better is to put it all thetime on the carpet, just for sure I reckon J So now a bit about the individual parts. AsI’ve said, the corpus is from clear glass, as well as the bowl which I’vepicked the bigger one (the options are around 10g or 25g of tobacco). Dunnoabout the small one, but the big one can last up to 3 hours in two smokers. Ijust keep on changing coils. Also another benefit is that the bowl is made fromsome thick high-temper glass, which helps in keeping the temperature inside inthe desired level. Another difference connected with the bowl is, that theMeduses don’t use the alufoil. They use the iron screens instead; both theupper and the lower. The advantages of those are that it is really easy tooperate. Even the adjusting of the tobacco during the smoking is possible. Thedisadvantage is the screens are from stainless steel and they get really hot.So you do need to leave the gap between the tobacco and screen w the coil – thebest seems around 1-2mm. Once you have done this, the smoke is perfect andthick for 3 hours without scratching in your throat. The best improvement fromMeduse is definitely the hose. It‘s made from stainless steel and silicon so nomore problems with grime which you are used to inhale from the other ones. Ihave this shisha for more than 6 months and I use it almost every day. The hoseis being rinsed out after every use and it still looks like new! Another greatthing is the 100% working check valves. So, two smokers can easily use theshisha, even inhale at the same time. Let’s proceed to the shisha preparation.Firstly I have to say the transport bag is superb, each single part has its ownplace in it, and it’s well protected against any damage which can occur duringnormal transport occasions. It means you’d better not check it in aircraft as aluggage. The preparation is much quicker compared with ordinary shisha, mainlybecause you do not have to waste time with alufoil. You just put the corpusglass into the stand, connect the bowl and bowl tube, put it into the corpus, connect the hoses and into the bowl you easily put the lower screen on whichyou spread the tobacco. Then you just lay down the upper screen n a coil. Evenwith the unpacking it takes up to 3 minutes to set it up. It’s really simple. As I told you before, only one think you have to really avoid is filling thebowl w tobacco closer than 1mm to the upper screen. Once you keep this in mind, you can enjoy damn good smoking. The smoke is well flavored and thick. Isuggest you putting the ice bricks into the water to make it even better andsmoother. The thing which makes the smoking really cool is you can easilyoperate with the coals and tobacco due to its stainless steel screens. So youcan simply control the quality of smoke it makes. Highly enjoyable I’d say J The chapter itself is the light. Usuallypeople are divided into the two groups. One admire it, the second dislike it.However it looks like a spaceship having it turned on, I definitely prefer thisway. It has somehow the ability to enhance entire atmosphere nearby. Howeveryou can switch it off anytime, just in case you are not really fond of suchstuff. I was also offered to buy the battery module as an access. I wouldappreciate it on some occasions like outside festivals or BBQs, cos I canimagine the curious glances of the lots around. Maybe next time… Now comes the worst part, which is cleaning. However, it takes 5-10 minutes to clean it all. But, frankly speaking, how manytimes have you left your hookah without proper cleaning, whether youwere too “socially tired” or just lazy. It had happened to me many times. Butnow I have no other possibility than clean my shisha after every use. It mightlook bit annoying, but I swear, there is nothing better than smoking from cleanshisha whether you are at home or any shisha lounge. And here you can see itperfectly due to its transparency, which is cool. Talking about transparency Ihave to say it’s one of the best things on this hookah - you can see all theprocesses taking place inside: the burning itself, the bubbling, and thefloating of the smoke through glass and hoses, damn cool. Oh,and incidentally, quite a substantial is difference of the resistance with whichthe pipe counteracts. There isnot the normal single hole at the bottom of the tube coming from the head, butkind of diffuser. It generates small bubbles so the feeling when smoking isdifferent, let’s say smoother and quieter. But after a few smoking sessions youget easily used to. It’s all about the habit. To make long story short, the smoking from this shisha ismore about symbiosis; your shisha is no more just an object serving itspurpose. It’s like an organism, breathing and living its own live next to youand letting you share its beauty and enjoyment. The thing is it’s very hard tounderstand unless you try it on your own.
