ukhookah
I know starbuzz has a lot of haters, but I thought I'd give them a try. I have tried apple cinnamon and citrus mist so far (got pirates and safari melon in my stock still try) and wow, I have to say this stuff is good. I love the fact that the shisha is moist but not drenched like al fakher. Love its thick cut. Very much reminds me of the nakhla mizo range, but with sooooo many choices. I know this shisha is expensive however, with such good flavours, having it washed and in your face flavour, I think the extra buck spent on this stuff is worth every penny. Besides the apple cinnamon, all my other shishas are natural leafy cut brown colour. The thick cut helps with heat managment. Overall very impressed. Just felt I needed to let those people know who haven't tried starbuzz, give it a go.
no longer welcome
i don't think sb has haters, per se, here on this forum. it's just a matter of opinion for the most part whether people like it or not. for me i will try a bowl of starbuzz about once a month, meaning not my favorite but a respectable brand. a few of my favorites are the last 10 or so, #1 for me has always been citrus mist. I tried pomberry the other night at their lounge in fullerton, I had to check it out. also, i think many of the regulars on this forum have given it a chance already and have come to their conclusions. 1 member used to get picked on a bit because he was an avid sb fan. also, if i remember correctly there may be an admin floating around here that likes safari melon dew, maybe he still does and will chime in. Chreees
SB isn't really bad, but compared to other brands it's just not worth it, IMO. Here's why: 1. Packaging. Why the tins? You can store the tobacco in them if you want, sure, but they're not airtight, so they're not really ideal. Also, I believe the tins are one reason for the cost. Cut the tin, cut the cost. The most economical packaging I've seen is Tangiers. 2. Endurance. This shisha just doesn't last as long compared to other brands. Therefore it doesn't warrant the price. Tangiers is $14.95 for Noir or $16.95 for Lucid. Starbuzz is $22.50. Tangiers lasts waaaaay longer. You get less for more. It just doesn't make sense. 3. The fackin' dye. Why dye the shisha? I have gotten a headache from Starbuzz just about everytime I've smoked it, and I think it may be because of the dye. I think they can get by without doing this (again, look at other brands which are not dyed). Also, I think this may be the reason for the chemical taste I often get while smoking Starbuzz. I liked the flavors I've tried. I really do. Minus the chemically taste and the headache I got while smoking it. And I know I sound like a Tangiers fanboy, and I admit I pretty much am, but it's the best brand to use as an example due to its longevity and packaging. I honestly would probably buy SB more often even though it has its faults if it were cheaper, or I'd atleast try more of its flavors. It just doesn't make sense to pay more for less. TheyCallMeDave
Nah, no problem with starbuzz. If people wanna buy it, be my guest. I have about 2 flavors that every now and then. I honestly just don't enjoy the starbuzz shisha "style". I fel it gives this underlying flavor. Not my cup o' tea. Bottom line, SB is the Carona Extra of shisha. And I started drinking Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale once I bought a phunnel bowl.
rj_skillz
SB isn't that bad at all..I say, continue to smoke what you like and those who criticise - tell em to phuck off hehe Nah I'm kidding - Just smoke what you like without worrying about what others think. If you can afford paying for it, then why not? I mean it is definitely a difference to Tangiers pricing - especially at the new tangiers hot deal I recently seen at a vendors website - 11 bucks a pop but like I said, if you can afford paying for something you like..then continue If everybody was the same, we'd be smoking one flavour and that's all..right? Cloud9
I don't know why people complain about SB...it's probably top 3 for me. Does the packaging up the price? Probably..something they can do without. Not sure why it was giving headaches to the poster who mentioned it earlier...I believe it's a washed shisha so that shouldn't do that. Not sure about the dye giving people headaches, I haven't heard that before from other brands that are dyed. Try blue mist and pink....2 very good flavors. The only one I didn't like was banana because it tasted like anything BUT banana.
IainUM
im another person that has nothing wrong with starbuzz, but in my opinion i agree with chris on almost everything (no, i dont get headaches from it, and yes, chris is a tangiers fanboy lol) i just cant justify buying it for that price. i pretty much only smoke nakhla and tangiers. ive grown to like tobaccos that have a tobacco taste that is also flavored. i believe this is different from starbuzz and that sort because, in my experience, they are more like flavor with a bit of tobacco in it. just my 2 cents

Rani
Starbuzz does what I consider pure fruit flavors as well as anyone. Their pineapple is awesome, and yeah, Apple Cinnamon is terrific. So is their Caramel Macchiato, and people swear by their white peach. But it is tremendously overpriced in most people's opinion. And yes the dye is a factor for some people. I don't hate it, and it doesn't give me headaches, but I see no reason to indulge in it if I don't have to. Starbuzz has become the 'designer jeans": of tobacco. There will always be people who want that name on their backside, and others who are happy with no-name comfy jeans. To each his own. agunn1231
Locally tangiers costs $20-25, and is only available about 90 minutes away, and starbuzz costs around $20 down the street.....but since i buy tangiers online, it is better for the price. I like a bit of starbuzz, but can't justify the price. however, at times i really just wanna change up my routine and buy some. If you like it, buy it. Lucy Ford
i've always been a fan of SB but thats what i was started on. I don't discriminate thought, i'll smoke mostly anything. SB has been turning me off recently, just the smell makes me ill. and the color of their sour apple made me take a triple take. The dye is just necessary
NUBBS
I love the variety of starbuzz. Nobody has all the flavors, but when you find a place that has a good selection and can smell most of em, omg. I don't pay retail for mine, so I smoke it like once a week. The banana I got tastes like banana candy runts. Love it. This forum is great for it's maturity. Some ppl might not like the brand very much, but they won't judge you for likin it. Kapten Kanel
Ordered three cans a year ago - sex on the beach, blue mist and lemon tea. All of them smelt good, this is where it all goes downhill. Tried several different bowls (phunnels, egyptians, different sizes etc...) and couldnt get the crap to smoke decent. Very little smoke, i have to rape the bowl with 4 coals and windshield to get decent smoke. No or very little taste at all. The shisha was quite wet so the lack of smoke cannot be explained easily. I think i had like one decent session with this shisha, thumbs down, also the packaging is useless, nice with tin cans but you cannot store the shisha in it since its not anywhere near airtight so... jordan
I think you have to give Starbuzz credit for starting a trend. I believe they are the first to come up with thise cocktail /drink flavours and they do smell nice. I tend to like SB and similar modern tobacco like Fusion, Potion and other becasue they are low on nicotine but once in a while I get a taste for Nakhlah DA. As far as price I pay $15/250g locally so its not bad but not really cheap when compared to a kilio of nakhla @ $20 but I don't smoke that often so price is not an issue. As far as packaging, the can does not really add to the price because there are brands like Havana in a tin which sells for $9.99 or even cheaper Ameren for $4.99. I personally think this type of packaging is cheaper than lets say Alfakher or Layalina which requires a production line.
Arcane
I'll go against the grain here and say Starbuzz is garbage, but that is according to my tastes. The best I can relate it to right now is cheese. Starbuzz is Velveeta. Many people love Velveeta and it fills a great role as a "cheese dip". Starbuzz has tons of fans and fits into the tastes of consumers who like "modern" flavors. However, just like Velveeta…you can tell something's quite not right. . Just like Velveeta has that plastic-y wax taste, no matter what you do to it. Starbuzz has this artificial, almost synthetic finish, that I can't get past. The artificial sweetener taste, the brush of bitter finish, and the unnecessary dyes. However, some people don't notice it or consider it a fair trade off to smoke a Cosmopolitan or Pumpkin Pie. I can't say I'm one of them. However, I've tried a fair share of flavors and formed my opinion on experience. Everyone should do the same. Edited February 8, 2011 by Arcane

TheyCallMeDave
Tangiers costing $5.00 more than SB? Make sure the SB cans arent 100g cans compared to tangiers 250 bags... Again, good flavors. However... SB cans x5 - $94.95 Tangiers bags x5 - $55.99 Nakhla boxes x5 - $39.95 Hell, I can buy 12 boxes of nakhla, which is like 3000 grams of tobacco for the same price as five cans of starbuzz. Would I, and do I buy starbuzz if I see something that really catches my eye? yes. Do I do it more than once every few months? Nope.

Arcane
well, if your vendor would sell it at SB's MSRP...it probably wouldn't look so appealing. Heck, if they sold Tangiers for $5/250g...you'd probably think differently...
king_lunchb0x
so this past weekend is got my second ever jar of SB. And boy was i disappointed, for the price and taste. This time I bought SB code 69 which smelled super good. But when smoking hardly any flavor really came through. Clouds were there but not all that great smell made it into flavor. Second time its happened with SB. I packed in a tang small phunnel,a bowl in hj alien, even a medium Egyptian and still blandish flavor..little sweet came through but not much of anything else. If this tobacco was about 10-12$ a 250g tub it wouldn't be to bad but since its not, im saving my money for something else. Thats my 2 cents
