Best Thing To Happen To Hookah?

Recommended Posts

ok so the thread was best thing to happen to hookah, so by that statement we are already establishing the basics, pipe/water in base/bowl/tobacco/coals/hose. So I must say HOOKAH-HOOKAH FTW bitches!!!!! :ylsuper:

ok but serious I think incubus was right with mu-ssal. That happened long before the internet was even public and i think it made it more appealing

I first was turned onto argileh by my trips to Lebanon as a teenager and while in college As I looked around, I found a few places serving them in DC, then when it was time to get my own, I got one in Beirut, and only found out about HF after that, I certainly didn't join for several years until after I got mine. I used to and still do by almost all my mu'assal and coals locally as well.

Now, no internet - no Elmas, THAT'S for sure!

Yeah I smoked before I found out there was a forum, but all my sessions were garbage. I have hookah forum to thank for continuing an activity that will most certainly lead to a painful and cancerous death!

i'd say besides the internet (being one of the greatest inventions of mankind) maybe hookah lounges. i would have never gotten into hookah if i didn't visit one. or instant light coals. i know a lot of people hate them, but i really don't mind them, tho i use exoticas most of the time, it's nice to just be able to grab a couple of coals and light em real quick, not to mention anywhere you wanna smoke. makes smoking outside real easy.

Wow...I'm looking forward to that. Of course every smoker (cigarettes) I know usually lives into their damn 90's. Plus...isn't shisha much better for you anyways??

Doesn't matter...we're all gonna die eventually. Might as well do the things in life that make you happy.

Ok, I'm done now. Continue on..

No, I think we are on the same page, while I love HF, it is far from unbiased.

If there is a thing as intelligent biasism... Then we have it. Sorry that the forum in this day and age is biased towards quality. ;-)

I say flavored mu-assel because without it we would not have Tangiers. Think about it guys. It's all one long chain. Flavored mu-assel, Nakhla, all the other brands in between, then Tangiers. Give credit where credit is due. I thank whichever Egyptian dude or whoever thought, "Let's add flavoring to it." I don't think I'd enjoy it otherwise.

but, without the interwebs...i think the hookah "fad" would not be as widespread as it is today. by fad, i mean the exclusion of those people that respect the hobby and its history, culture, etc. even though i despise hookah being depicted in contradiction to my views, it is publicity. and publicity generates popularity, popularity leads to sales and sales lead to progress/production.

although, much of that benefits the modern, ignorant hookah smoker....people like me, get to reap some bennies every now and then (such as f-line, mizo lines, etc)

I agree, but I still think it goes right back to it becoming available in different flavors. Why? Because I don't think it would have become as widespread had it remained traditional in the sense that there were no flavors. With different flavors, it attracted a whole new crowd of folks. But yes, the interwebs has definitely helped push it to become more popular. Internet does that with a lot of stuff. But in the case of hookah, I think what really propelled it forward was it becoming available in different flavors. Without that happening, I don't think hookah forums/vendors would exist. Or at least not on the level that they do today. Think of the flavors being the milestone that made everything else possible.

Also, I think we need to thank the U.S. government for their involvement in the Middle East's affairs, which made it possible for the soldiers to see hookah being used and bringing it back to the States.

This will make for a good discussion.

If flavored moassel existed, but the internet didn't. I highly doubt the hookah fad would be as popular. Then again, word of mouth (literally) is a powerful advertising tool. If the internet existed, but flavored moassel didn't, even with the widespread publicity, it might not catch on to the current modern hookah crowd. It would probably find some smaller niche market within the pipe and cigar smokers.

Ok, I'm changing my answer to flavored moassel. Haha.

I don't know what's the best thing that happened to hookah (I think it's flavoured tobacco), but hookah is one of the best things that happened to me! :D

I never chilled like I chill with the hookah after a hard days work, or a relaxed weekend. Not even with liquor.

I have to agree with others and say the online community.

For me, an active and helpful online community is what really gets me into any hobby. Through the forums, hookah fanatics can meet each other and make new friends. Also the abundance of information helps attract the newbies and keeps them here, making the community grow even larger.

For myself, I think I'll have to go with washed tobacco. If I smoke unwashed, it sends my blood pressure up to heart attack zone. Eric once theorized I might have a nicotine allergy.
