Washable Hoses Doomed To Be Boring

Recommended Posts

Why is it that all of the rust-proof hoses, including KM, have to look so plain. I understand that they are designed with functionality/washability in mind, but I would much rather see a more complex hose that is washable. I like the flash, writing, designs and other sorts of bells and whistles on my hoses. It seems like all of the flashy hoses fall apart or rust in the end and you have to replace them much more often. Maybe I missed something? Perhaps the hose that I am looking for exists? I would love to know what your opinions are!

check out the razan washable hoses. those have a lot of interesting designs on them

also, nammors have a lot of different versions like a clear one and a chrome style that are kinda cool, too

narbish's are kinda plain

i think for the most part people go for function over design, really.

Here's why. In the Middle East, where these hoses are made, they are DIRT CHEAP. In Lebanon the most expensive hoses are $5. Egypt is far cheaper. It's no big thing to buy several different hoses for different flavors, and replace them when they need replacing. Washable hoses HARDLY exist there as there's no market, so not much effort is put into their design.

YUP.

my cousins who came for vacation were BLOWN away when i started listing prices for my setup. seriously. they felt sorry for me.

at first they thought i was joking...and then i showed them some sites that i buy from and they felt bad. they simply couldn't believe how expensive the shit over here is. most stuff is about 5 times (if not more) expensive over here than it is over there. as has said, lebanon (where my cousins came from) is one of the more expensive places to get the stuff from. prices in egypt and syria for this stuff is even lower.

you can't have your cake and eat it too, though. they don't have tang phunnels, they don't have tangiers, they don't have crown bowls so if there wasn't as much room for profit here people wouldn't find such ventures profitable.

that being said, i'm stocking up next time i go. stocking up.

5 times is about right. A decent argileh there can be had for $20, less if you bargain. What do you all get your pipes for, $80? $100? More?

As for not having tang or crown or whatever - the smoking atmosphere there is so awesome I don't miss it. I think a lot of smokers just arrived from the Arab world would be a) shocked such a forum exists, and B) surprised that there are SO MANY kinds of hoses, tobacco, coals, etc

i think i know what y ou mean, but can you give me an example of the non washable hoses that you find more attractive?
i'll go on a limb, but the cobra style hoses, maybe a mya ciagr hose, km 2011 hoses? i'd really like the feedback, thanks

Hassouni pretty much covered it. I do like cobra hoses, but I had the flashier KM hoses in mind. I like the washable hose designs as far as feel and functionality go. It just seems like they are missing the flash that some other hoses have. It also seems like all of the washable hoses are very similar with not much selection.

We could always use a better variety of patterns to choose from. Like KM's 2010 Signature Hose is a great look.

Other than the colors and patterns, I find the shape and feel of washable hoses to be great as is.

I agree with this. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I do like the feel of the washable hoses.

I really just like the plain looking hoses, about the fanciest i like are the KM hoses with teh rainbow thread in them, if i could have a washable with that thread, i'd be happy lol

have always wanted a cobra hose that wasn't restrictive and a nice long handle

I used to have one, to cut the restriction I bored the butt end of the hose with my drill. It wasn't bad but I personally prefer a traditional style hose, the angle (to me) is better for smoking. The handle length was great but it was all cardboard. needless to say that the hose is long gone.
