lunare
So I was having this discussion with a friend the other day, who claims that he almost never seems to get good smoke from larger stems, but seems to get really good smoke from smaller stems. Having never tried a smaller stem, I was curious. Has anyone else noticed this?
hookah hippie
Personally I prefer a larger stem for two reasons. Larger stems allow more time for smoke to cool. They also reduce greatly the chances that water gets in your bowl when clearing the hookah, this can happen easily on smaller hookahs
Epoch
Width is more important than length. Now let's hope we avoid too many "that's what she said" jokes.
Tyler
Must resist stem size joke.... But really, it's not about the size of the stem but the construstion quality as a whole. A mya QT can smoke just as well as a KM double pear, there are so many more factors that go into a good sessions such as tobacco, coals, packing, hose, purge valve, water level and temp, ect.... Venger
my mya qt smokes just as good as any big stemmed hookah i have tried. Ray
bdot
The only major difference I see with a smaller stem is the fact that it is easier to purge. When smoking the QT with my buddys they would purge and shoot water up the stem into the bowl, ruining the session. After I moved onto my KM this is no longer a problem. I do however feel that when I smoke out of my QT I get bigger clouds than I've had with my KM, but there are so many other variables that contribute to that. A big plus for smaller stems for me is cleanup. It is SO easy to clean my QT compared to my bigger KM.
IainUM
when you have two equally constructed stems (quality wise) then the size really shouldn't make much of a difference at all. like they said, though, smaller stem, easier to ruin session while purging but easier to clean. it is really just personal preference. i have a 30+inch KM now and kinda wish i had a qt or other small mya for when i dont feel like lugging around the gigantic thing
Chreees
As some will say, size doesn't matter! Except it's actually true regarding hookahs.

IainUM
it's not the size of your stem, but how you use it. lol i couldn't resist
king_lunchb0x
it's not the size of your stem, but how you use it. lol i couldn't resist
I think with larger stems smoke cools better and leaving coals on you tray for a long period of time doesn't transfer as much heat to the stem as a small hookah would. But like he said its not the size, just gotta know how to work with what you got
lunare
Thanks for the input everyone. Was considering getting a new hookah as well, and am now debating whether I should get a Mya QT.
