Mya Qt 2 Hose Problem ?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys! I'm Neeraj from India and this is my first post here. Cheers!

Now, I bought a Mya QT about 3 days ago from a local vendor here (There's a lot of chinese stuff easily available here), and it smokes great! What a power house for it's size.
I had a couple of friends over the night I bought it and they all simply loved it, but the problem was that we were six people (and my group is generally on the north side of 6), and we just thought it would have been nice to have a double hose hookah.

Anyway, the next day when I was just surfing through hookah related topics, I found out that you could just buy a mya hose adapter, fit it where the purge valve is and Voila! you will have a double hose hookah, so I excitedly made a trip to the same vendor and I was in luck! He had em bad boys!! I had taken my hookah with myself and the guy gladly accepted to fix it for me. I bought it back home, set it up and invited a couple of friends to give it a test ride, and everything worked like a charm. No problems.

The only problem I have with it is Auto seal. I read up on the internet that the 2 hose hookahs that hookah shisha sells have auto seals on both hose ports, while mine doesn't have it on the hose port I had put in ? Did I do something wrong ?

Also, the bowl grommet is not something I'm entirely happy with, the glycerin drips onto it from inside the bowl and I have a lot of trouble putting the bowl after changing flavours as it gets all slippery and doesn't sit air tight, did I get the wrong one or will I have to glue it to the bowl ? :-s

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

I'll try to help until the big boys show up...
Im no expert, but...

About the auto seal:
http://www.hookah-sh...se-adapter.html

here it says that it doesn't need to have it necessarily, so you didn't do anything wrong, unless your retailer sells them as auto seal adapters -> then I would complain

Don't glue the grommet to the bowl.
These are the problems and solutions:
1. Maybe your bowl has big holes so it lets the juices through, an egyptian with smaller holes might even be an improvement
(If I remember right, mya bowls tend to have big holes)
2. What shisha are you using?
3.Try to get bowl more specialised in wetter shisha -> phunnel will be the recommendation here, a vortex would be an alternative if you're unable to find a phunnel

Hope I helped and welcome to the forum :D Edited by The Jester

Hey thanks! That was a quick reply. :)

Erm...I just checked and it does have bigger holes than the bowl I was using with my pumpkin hookah (the only hookah I owned before the QT). I use AF shisha because that's the only quality shisha available here. :P my only alternatives are Afzal and Aladdin, and I've not heard anything good about them. AF does tend to be very wet though but isn't that a good thing ? :D It doesn't flow like crazy but the grommet becomes problematic with even a drop or two. :(

I couldn't get the phunnel bowl the last time I went but I will try to get one the next time! Thanks alot mate.

And thanks for the link man! I feel stupid now :P because the retailer didn't say that it will have autoseal but I saw this

http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1726-mya-qt-2-hose-hookah.html

and thought that may be something is wrong with mine, I'm surely gonna go there and ask him if he has the autoseal one, things just seem more tight with the autoseal thing. :D

Thanks mate, you've been great help.

It is better to have wetter tobacco for bigger clouds...others will have more info

I own a Aladdin hookah, an Amira, but they don't make shisha

They offer Nakhla, and if its Nakhla, its good

German site but you will understand what I mean, or search for an english one, they have it

hi!

Fist off. If you have 2 autoseals on a 2 hose hookah then you can't purge your hookah. It's better to have 1 open port and 1 autoseal. When you alone are smoking, use the original open port. The autoseal second port will close off when you inhale, and if you have to blow into your hose to clear the hookah the autoseal port will open up like a purge valve. The think to keep in mind with an open port on one side is that when the second person, on the autoseal side, inhales the person on the open side must block the end of their hose with their thumb to avoid creating an air leak through the hose. I suspect the reason H-S puts 2 autoseals on may be because they don't think people are smart enough to thumb their hose when the second person hits. :)

As for the drippy bowl, bowls tend be be hand made and have different bottom opening sizes and shapes. If you are having some leakage, try a different bowl OR use a small strip of wet paper towel instead of a grommet. I do that regularly. If the bowl you are using is sliding on a grommet, try wiping off the inside of the bowl and the outside of the grommet before replacing it. The grommets work by friction and you get less friction with shisha juice everywhere. ;)

As for the clouds, each tobacco is different, each takes a different amount of heat to get the best clouds. Bowl type shouldn't really matter that much. try messing with adding and removing smaller pieces of coal.

That help?

And jester, Ya did just fine. :D

@Jester : Thanks a lot for the help. :) Unfortunately, even Nakhla is not available here locally, and the shipping costs from hookah shisha to my country is just something I'm not prepared to pay. I'd have to order a lot of stuff to justify shipping costs over $50, and I'd have to order things that I get very cheap here! (Got my QT for about $25 and I get 50gm of AF shisha for $1 a pack).

@Mushrat : Thanks for your help man. :) I know the trick with the finger though, I just thought it would be better with both ports having the autoseal, but now that you put it like you have, I guess I'm better off the way I am. Thanks again for the input!

And I did wipe the inside of the bowl and the grommet before putting my second bowl on but I figured that I need to wash the grommet, then wipe it and wait for it dry to get it airtight. :) The paper trick seems very handy, I'm gonna try that out tonight.

I don't have any troubles with the smoke though, AF ranks right up there when it comes to smoke and I've been lucky with the heat management till now. :D These were the only problems I had with my now favourite thing in this world and thanks to you guys, I'll be able to solve them. Cheers!!

Gonna mix all flavours tonight and make a cocktail when I try your paper trick! *Excited* :P

Mush nailed it. Having one open port and one auto-seal port is optimal when using your QT in the two-hose configuration. Even works for when you're smoking by yourself, because it acts like a purge valve essentially. And yep, just use the damp paper towel strips for grommets. I actually posted a thread on this a while back about how it soaks up the juices that drip down. So you should be set to go now. ;)

Oh, and welcome to HF!

@Incubusratm : Thanks mate! :) you both are right, it does work better this way because I can purge it. By the way, I was wondering if you guys know whether I'm the only member from India ? :-s I've looked everywhere here for coconaras/exoticas coals and nammor/razan hoses, but all I bump into is Mya stuff.

May be if there are members from India, they could give me a heads up ? Thanks. :)
