TheyCallMeDave
My beatings taught me right. Sending a kid to their room, the ONE place they would rather be besides at a Bieber concert or whater kids do these days, does absolutely nothing.
GoldenFingerBl4ster99
I still would have to say beating your kids probably does more harm than good.
mushrat
I don't think Beating is the correct word. Corporal punishment short of abuse is perhaps more accurate.

Rani
I know I kinda jacked this in the potential realm of child abuse, but seriously............ If you've ever studied wolves, they make the most amazing parents. When a pup is newborn an helpless, they receive NO discipline. As they grow and have to become socialized into wolf "civilization", they get warning growls when they step out of line. When they hit the wolf equivalent of teenage years, those growls are backed up with a nip if they don't heed the warning. And if the nips don't work, then they get an ass-whooping. The result? Wolves are perfectly assimilated into wolf society. They work as cohesive members to the betterment of the entire pack. No such thing as an anti-social wolf out robbing other packs. I raised my son, and two step kids with the same general actions. The result was that all it took was a stern reminder of the potential consequences if they didn't listen. The result? At the age of 25 my son did something stupid which got him the attention of the police. He didn't commit a crime, he was just an accidental accessory because he didn't see consequences for his association with idiots. But when I got hold of him...... He's 6'4" and 200 muscled pounds. And I'm a short round little shit. He stood in my hallway hanging his head while I ripped him verbally up one side and down the other. He got pissed, slammed his hand against the wall, and started to walk out. I never even moved from my seat. I snapped out some statement, I don't remember what but it was clearly a threat. His response was to walk meekly back to listen to me for Round Two. Few years later we talked about it, laughing with his new wife. She asked him why so meek........ His response. "Mom might not have really killed me, but I would have wished I was dead." He says to this day I'm the one person that can make him snap to attention with a "yes'm". And it's because I spanked him growing up, but I can count the number of times I actually had to do that on one hand and have fingers left over. I'm telling you.... Raise your kids like wolves do and you won't have nearly so many maladjusted grownups. 'Rani
vendetta_revived
Legal age smoking/drinking is the SHIT!! As for the beatings are concerned, my old man beat the shit out of me for being even an hour late (in the morning after playing cricket), and though I'm a better person for it, it has hindered my self confidence a lot! I'm 24 and earning and still have a curfew time of 11 (I'm capable of moving out and my parents are more than capable of supporting themselves but it's not considered a good thing among us Indians), and hell! My older bro is married for the past 2 years and even he has a curfew time of 12! Even if he is out in his own goddamn car!! He doesn't beat us no more, but his words are worst than any physical beating anyway! So I suppose that there has to be a balance between strictness and leniency.
