David Egan
Hello everybody!!!! I have always looked at hookahs and wanted one. I was down town on friday and bought one for £10 off the market, just to try it! IM HOOKED! Its only small and came with 1 Soex DBL apple and some QL. I loved the DBL apple and want to try every flavour possible, but after reading into this some more, I got alot to learn!!!! First, I know my hookah is probably rubbish, but it is letting me get started! Second im not so sure about this Soex stuff, im reading its rubbish too. As im only starting out whats the best deal on some ok shisha and some QL? Am I better off staying small, or go big?
nathanmweiss
If you're happy with a small one I wouldn't bother getting a bigger one. Best thing to do is to go to a lounge and try a big one out and see if the difference is that noticeable. Since you're in the UK, sorry about the shisha situation, you guys have it tough I hear as far as having to pay a large tax on tobacco. There are herbal options like SOEX I hear, but I don't have any experience with them. Maybe take a look at the review thread and see what people are saying
Chreees
I recommend first checking out the Beginner's Guide: http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/40373-beginners-guide-to-hookah/ Some brands that are well-liked are Tangiers, Nakhla, Al Fakher, Nakhla, Starbuzz, Social Smoke, etc. Can't go wrong with these brands, but they are difficult for you to obtain in the UK due to high taxes on tobacco there. Some herbal brands I know were liked the best were Salloum and Hydro. Check 'em out. As for coals, I prefer naturals, Coconaras mostly. If you need to stick to quicklights for any reason, go with Three Kings or CH (C stands for a word not allowed here due to drug connotations, see the beginner's guide for it's definition). Any questions, ask away. We're here to help! Oh, and welcome to HF!

I don't like the sound of that! Will probably do what one of my pal does for Indian cigs, gets his bro here to buy in bulk and courier em!

Pretty much you'll have to buy out of country and pay for the shipping, unfortunately. Just know customs often catch it.
Jesse
The better alternative to Soex is to look for El Rosha or Al Baraka shishas, both of which are herbal and in my opinion, excellent smokes. Both smoke well, taste great, and should be a good deal price wise. Al Baraka has a great Double Apple flavor and also does nice vanilla, mint, berry, and orange shisha flavors.
